CSU Application problem

I made a mistake on my Cal State applications where it asked about my parents’ untaxed income and benefits. I was told to email each campus telling them about the mistake and I asked them if it was possible to change the value I entered. So far, One of the Cal States replied saying that they are unable to change the mistake once an app is submitted to them. What do I do? I’m worried that my admissions decisions will be affected all because of an honest, small mistake. What’s even worse, I’m scared that now that all the campuses I applied to know about the mistake they will look down on me.

Cal states are need blind so your admission decisions will not be based on your financial status. The financial aid office is separate from admissions, so you need to fill out your FASFA correctly.

@Gumbymom If the financial aid office notices the mistake will they contact me to clarify what went wrong?

The financial aid office will not see your CSU application. The FA office will go by what you report on your FASFA.
The income information on the CSU application is just that, informational.

@Gumbymom so am i worrying for nothing or do you think I should do something else just to clarify the mistake to them? Should I call in maybe?

I think you are worrying for nothing. If you are in need of financial aid, fill out the FASFA and submit. The CSU’s will be going by FASFA information and not what you put on the CSU application.

If the mistake is seen and let’s say I decide to go to a cal state can this be used against me to rescind my admission?

CSU’s rescind for several things, but not incorrect income data on the application. If you are concerned, then email admissions with the correction.

CSU admissions may be rescinded for reasons such as the following:
-your GPA, test scores or course grades are lower than what you reported on the application.
-you miss any admission deadlines.
-you earn D or F grades in any coursework (not just A–G courses) taken during your senior year.
-you misreported or did not complete a required course.

You are over-thinking this small mistake. @Gumbymom has already reassured you (and you seem to want to make a mountain out of a molehill.) Stop worrying.

The schools are making decisions based on your grades, test scores and high school activity. The financial aid offices are making their decisions based on how much money is coming from the state and who needs funding.
Stop over-thinking and focus on your current classes.

I had made the same mistake as you did. Did you fix it? What did you do to fix it?

@kjwan I was told that the mistake doesn’t really matter because they will be looking at what I put on the FAFSA and not the income on the application. Also you cannot go back and edit this portion and neither can the admissions office. I was worrying for no reason.

okay,thank you
