CSU Award Packages

A few months ago, I was told that the colleges that I have been accepted to will be sending me a merit-based award package within weeks of my acceptance. I have been accepted to San Francisco State University (SFSU) in December, California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in January, and California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) in February so far.

When should I expect these merit-based award packages to come, if any?

Have you checked your portal site at each of the schools?
The award info may be there.

CSU’s give little merit aid. If you are eligible, you should be getting a need-based financial aid package from all the schools. As stated above ^^^ check your individual school portals.

No financial aid awarded. Should I have received merit aid by now, if I even got any? Or do I wait

Your need-based and merit aid should be in the portal. Like I stated, CSU’s mainly give need-based aid. Usually you have to apply for merit aid/scholarships. These are not automatic.

This^^^ and if you were told that your merit package was coming, you need to check who gave that information to you. Call the schools’ financial aid offices and find out if you were actually awarded any merit if you didn’t apply.

The woman at my high school’s college office told me and a group of students that. Thanks for the info

If someone, from outside of the university’s FA offices, told you that, in a group setting, she was probably not authorized to give you that information. I believe she was speaking in general terms.

Its a budgetary/finance thing with all of the pieces of the puzzle coming together for the next year. They have to take into consideration the present funding for PRESENT students. They have to look at the EFC numbers, spreadsheets, estimations, etc.

The only ones who can give dates and data are the financial aid specialists at each university. How would this woman know? If not, go back to your high school and ask her for specifics and don’t bother the FA people at your university.

She actually passed away recently, but I will call. Thank you!

Sorry to hear that; I was being snarky.

The information comes from FA and usually it is in your FA portal.
