I’m an International student looking to transfer to a CSU, preferably in Northern California. I have less than 60 credits, my current GPA is 2.45, and my score on the new SAT is 1300. My major would be Computer Science. Which CSUs would I have a chance of getting in to? Or should I try and transfer during the Spring Semester so I’d have a chance to bring my GPA up?
You need 60 units of credit by the end of Spring 2018 to transfer for Fall 2018. Some but not all CSU’s accept transfers for Spring 2019 and some accept Winter 2019 transfers.
I would say your best chance would be Cal State East Bay which is a non-impacted campus and may accept a 2.45 GPA transfer but you still need to meet the 60 unit minimum transfer requirement along with meeting the CSU transfer course requirements. East Bay has good job placement for CS majors.
Another non-impacted CSU for CS would be Bakersfield although more Central than Northern California.
CSU’s do not consider SAT scores for transfer applicants. Your CSU GPA will the most important factor.
If you are not happy with these choices, I would stay and try to bump up your GPA. Under a 3.0 GPA will be a tough admit for the majority of CSU’s in CS.

Thanks for your reply.
Are you sure about needing at least 60 units of credit to transfer to CSU East Bay? I was reading this page (http://www.csueastbay.edu/prospective/how-to-apply/international-student-admission/index.html) and it says that they do accept International transfers with less than 60 credits.
Like she said, East Bay is a non-impacted campus.
You need to be aware that it is not a very “popular” campus among the CSU’s and you will be paying full fees of $40K per year if admitted.
Oh and the bay area rents are expensive.
Any suggestions for CSUs in Southern California that I could possibly get in to?
Again, the popular campuses are impacted.
So you need to focus on CSU commuter schools. Dominguez Hills, LA. The others are impacted. So. Cal is also expensive in rents.
I would target the non-impacted campuses which are as follows:
CSU Channel Islands
CSU Dominguez Hills
CSU Bakersfield
CSU East Bay
You can also look other CSU campuses where Computer Science is not impacted on this chart:

Also check out San Marcos. Not impacted for computer science. You’ll need the 60 units and rent is probably expensive, but it’s a nice school.
