CSU Chico Q's

@firefox952
Hello do you recommend attending Choose Chico Day? Also, as far as housing/roommates go is a double better than a triple? What about meal packages? Which housing package is the best? My daughter is still unsure about what school to choose but Chico is in her top three choices.

@Zevia -I highly recommend going to that, and seeing if your daughter likes the campus and school itself. Unfortunately I can’t answer any of those questions as if I’ve never lived on campus, but @NCalRent probably can as his son is a recent graduate and was at Chico for all 4 years. Chico is definitely a great school but at the same time see the school before deciding on it.

it has been several years but, i recall Choose Chico Day as a worth while event. I’d strongly suggest a double in Lassen/Shasta. As i have noted elsewhere, the layout really lends itself to quickly making new relationships.

As far as meal plan, it looks like they have added a few more options but, they are the same price - you probably can’t go wrong with the middle one.

@Zevia - my son has also been considering the possibility of switching to a different major at Chico (was recently admitted) - we talked to Admissions to ask if it was possible to change majors now - and the answer is yes, as long as it is not into one of their 3 impacted majors (Nursing, Social Works or Music - Recording Arts). If you initiate a change now, then during summer orientation your student will meet with the proper department for advising/choosing classes for Fall term. My son isn’t positive yet about switching, but it’s nice to know it is an option. Otherwise, sounds like it is equally as easy to switch once they are enrolled/taking classes too.

@nocal1 Thank you for the information. I had also called and they showed me where to get the forms on their website. Unfortunately, I think my daughter is leaning towards Cal Poly Slo now.
