Hello everyone! I just finished my first year at cal state Fullerton and I am now planning to transfer to a CC then to a better school. I am a computer science student hoping to get into UC Irvine in a Year from Mt. Sac community college. My question is that is there a unit limit that I have to take at a CC to be considered a community college student when I transfer? I have taken more than almost 40 semester units here and about almost 30 are UC transferable. (I know this because I checked which of my csu courses articulate with the cc and the cc with UC). Do you think this is a good idea? If I dont get into UCI, I can at least have something like Cal poly Pomona as a back up. Program here at CSUF have bad reviews from people who went through it. If I have more than 70 semester units when I transfer, will that hurt my chances? Any advice on this topic other than the ones I have asked would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I suggest getting that associates degree as a backup. No such thing as too many credits.
Your last 30 semester units need to be from a CC to get priority consideration. You do not need an AA to transfer, so it’s optional.
The only way you will have too many units is if you took more than a few upper division courses at the CSU. That could disqualify you if you reach the unit cap.
