Csu to cc

Hi currently I am a sophomore going to be a junior next yr at sjsu. But I am not doing well in my major classes. Is it too late to transfer to CC? I hv already taken some general Ed and I recently got started on major classes.

Any advice would be appreciative

Would you go to a CC then transfer back to SJSU or try to enter into another CSU or another school?

If you want to apply for another CSU, you’ll need to be very careful about what courses you take to meet the entry requirements, which are strictly articulated for transfers, or you may end up adding more years (years = $$).

You must have a minimum or 60 semester or 90 quarter units to transfer, and completed all lower division transfer requirements. The most import thing, however, is that both the CSU and UC systems have upper and lower limits on transferable credits. Pay careful attention to the distribution of these credits.

Transferring to a private or an out-of-state public may have very different criteria.

Going to a CC to remedy a poor showing can be a really good idea, but don’t be fooled into thinking that the classes at a CC are inherently easier. They’re not.

First figure out why you’ve done poorly at SJSU and try to focus on correcting those reasons.
Do your study habits need improving? Are you attempting too many credits at once? Are you working full or part time? Are you too shy or embarrassed to ask for assistance from a professor or tutoring when things get rocky? Are you able to recognize when things get rocky or do you think things are OK until too late?

All of these things can impact your GPA. All of these are things that you can control and improve upon.
I recommend asking yourself these questions - and speaking to an advisor at SJSU - prior to making any decision regarding moving over to a CC.

Good luck.

If you like SJSU, perhaps a change of major is a viable alternative. Not sure what you are studying but, switching to Business offers a wide variety of course and career options (marketing, finance, HR operations, etc). That course will likely save you time and money and position you well for a job when you graduate.
