Csu to csu

Current cc here, basically done though. How does it go about tranferjng from a csu to another csu? I’m applying this year in the summer for spring 2020 to a couple of schools ONE having my major and the others somewhat close to my major. That’s why I need those as back ups. However I learned that one csu that does have my major might not be open for spring transfer.

So if I get accepted to one of my back ups, end up attending the spring semester and have already applied for fall 2020. Can I easily transfer out to the other Csu? I’ve seen a couple of people doing this in past threads but is it easy as it looks?

(Keep in mind that those back ups don’t really have my major but it’s somewhat close to it, major interior design, something close to it would be anything in art and design.)

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Easily transfer will depend upon your target schools for Fall 2020. Again, there is no guarantee that if you try to transfer from you backup school to your target school that you will get in. I personally would stay at your community college and bump up your GPA to increase your chances at your target CSU’s. A lot less expensive and I think it would give you a better chance in the end.

Thanks for the feedback! Top school pick is Csulb, then it’s Csun, and back ups are csuf, csudh and csula. Made the mistake of not picking local back ups when applying for fall 19, now I know better.

For CSULB, if you can bump up your GPA a bit before applying for Spring 2020, then I think you would have a better chance this time around. Spring tends not be as competitive as Fall.

Best of luck.

@gigidiamands -I’m currently in the process of doing that exactly. Moving from CSUC to a CSU in SoCal. It’s a little more work but as long as you have your stuff squared enough next time around, you should have a chance.

I have talked to SJSU Admissions about this and they said you have an equal chance as any other upper div transfer.
