CSU TO UC

Hello, just wondering if it would be possible to transfer to a UC by sophomore year. I will be attending Chico freshman year with doing premed in mind and having a history major declared if any of that matters. I’m hoping to transfer for better advising/classes/premed opprtunities. Thank you!

Anything is possible if you work hard! I am currently awaiting decisions from other UC’s but I am coming from SFSU and so far I have been accepted to UCR and UCSB. Just make sure you do your research and look through other forums here on CC and keep that GPA up. If you have any specific questions, you can ask me

Assuming that you meant transferring by Junior year, then absolutely. You would apply during the beginning of your sophomore year and transfer to whichever school you were accepted the following year.

UCB has a list on their transfer website that specifies which English requirements satisfy the composition requirement for CSU transfers. Those courses will be perfectly acceptable for any other UC as well.

Any College Algrebra, Stats, or PreCal course at a four year will satisfy the transfer math requirement.

Stick to basic introductory courses for the rest of the GE categories. For instance, take “Introduction to Art”. Avoid “Art of Mesopotamia”. Take “World Civilizations” or “U.S. History”. Avoid “Survey of Egyptian History”.

5 minutes on the web will let you understand the requirements to transfer to a UC. The answer to your question will be crystal clear.

Why do you think there is “better advising”? There is no real advising at UCs short of what you go and track down yourself.

@tristanggp Have you considered attending CC instead?

Hey there what classes would u recommend for the summer? I’m going to be a freshmen as a CSU, and I hope to transfer to a UC. DO you have any specific courses in mind?

Go to your target school’s web site and find the courses required to transfer into the program you are targeting. Take those classes and get great grades. Easy as that…

Good luck.

Thanks

So you’re referring to the major prereqs?
