CSULB - Class of 2015

Lucky. I called and got accepted feb. 9th and still have yet to see a paper.

And CSULB is one of the better and more selective csu’s. It and Cal Poly are the top two in the cal state system I believe don’t worry.

(lol San bernadino has a csu?

Hmm that’s weird  It’s just a bunch of papers anway lol. But, yeah, it does feel cool to be able to look through them and say, “This is where I’ll be next year, yaaay” hahaha. Maybe you live further away from the school, so it has just taken longer to get to you?

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I just kind of thought it was like CSU San Bernardino, where they’ll accept almost anyone. But with a 32% acceptance rate [collegeboard.com] I don’t know how I could have possibly thought that lol

Yeah, SB has one haha. People can get in with only like 450’s in CR and math. It’s definitely a good school, though, but the students there aren’t what you would call “achievers.” And because I live in Riverside, we’re within their local service area and they will accept ANYONE from our school hahaha.

Agreed with blondie^ I live in Riverside and am often surprised of the students accepted to CSU San Bernadino

Ah well. I got my packet from csun but all I thought when I saw it was NOPE!.avi

I’m in their service area so it was safety more than anything (I live in Santa clarita)

I know one of my friends got a rejection from CSULB though, so i was hoping they were in the area soonish, w/e I’m sure it’ll come.

(the rejection letter is so depressing. Looks just like a report card apparently and one page long

Yaaaay we have a fellow citizen of Riverside haha. I bet you’re also very very excited to be leaving this boring town for college hahaha.

----> I couldn’t think of a better word for “citizen” so it might sound kind of silly, but it’ll have to do

Awwww, rejections are so sad :[

No one ever seems to like their local schools hahaha. In Riverside, we call UCR the reject school, even though it’s actually not a bad university haha

You’ll probably end up getting your letter soon. I bet it ends up coming in the mail tomorrow.

Oh, hey there fellow citizen! haha
Yup, If I don’t get into UCSB (or maybe even CSULB) I’ll probably go to SDSU where I’ve been admitted…ha San Diego…Riverside…Talk about a change of environment.
Good luck to you!

Hello hahaha. SDSU will definitely be a change of environment. Ahhh, no more cow smells and fields of dead grass [well, hopefully not haha]
Good luck with UCSB!
I can’t wait to go to the CITY where there are actually places to go without having to have a car hahaha. My brother said there’s an art district right by CSULB, so that will be really cool! I just can’t wait to be in a different environment!

Thanks!
haha do you live in the Norco area? hmmm That’s the only place I can think of that smells like cow and dead grass. I live very close to UCR, but still, there’s not too much to do.
Have you never visited CSULB? There’s also the Aquarium of the pacific and many other places to go. You sound like an outgoing girl so you’ll be a perfect fit!

I live really close to UCR too haha. It’s only like 15 minutes down the freeway. I don’t live in Norco, but I live near downtown riverside where there are farm areas mixed with some pretty nice suburban areas. There are pretty diverse living conditions surrounding me haha.

Nope, I’ve never visited it. I had actually never really considered going there until I was actually accepted haha. I’m really not actually that outgoing, but I think I’ll really enjoy Long Beach lol. A change of scenery can’t hurt :] The only thing I won’t like about the school though is that it seems like a party school. I’m not really into going to parties and all that stuff, but I’m sure there will be students there just like me – there are about 30,000 to choose from hahahaha

Ohhhh (Pretty Diverse :p) I know exactly what you mean! haha I’ve rode my bike in that area by the the Rubidoux Bike Trail a couple of times.

haha SDSU and CSULB are always highly ranked in the “top party schools in America” type of polls.
And yeah, I’ve read on CC many times before that “if you don’t party much during high school, you’re not going to party much more in college” so that should be no big deal for you.

That’s Riverside for you hahaha.

Dang it’s at the top haha. I’m not sure if you know much about college partying, but do the parties [with all of the drinking and stuff] actually happen IN the dorms or are they usually off campus somewhere? I’ve never understood what people mean when the call a school a party school lol

Haha okay, well it’s good to know that I have a good chance of not being sucked into the party scene lol

Even though it’s all based on location and reputation, I think it depends on the residence hall they place you in.
At SDSU, all the journalism students, like myself, find themselves living at Zura Hall.
a.k.a “the zoo”. It’s supposed to biggest party hall out of the 4 options, but I don’t plan on living there (the rooms are so small!).
So my advice is to look at CSULB website for housing and research the different housing options (I’m sure some threads on here discuss "which housing is best) at long beach.
I think it also depends on who you live with. Hopefully one of your friends gets accepted and you can request that you both are placed in the same dorm.
I’ll probably do the same if I’m accepted

Ohhh okay! Well I sent in my housing application and I applied for the Residential Learning College, which is about a mile off campus. Because the campus is so large, this community was designed to give students a closer living community… I’m not sure if there’s much partying going on in it, but I guess I’ll just have to find out!
When I applied for housing, there was also an option to choose a 24-hour quiet dorm hall where EVERYONE is quiet 24 hours a day. This was definitely my last choice hahaha. But I guess that’s a good alternative to the other dorms, which are probably usually really loud.

I’m not sure there’s actually a friend I would like to live with hahaha. I’d rather take my chances on a new roomate

Oh, and I looked at pictures of the CSULB dorms and everything except for the traditional style halls are suite-style, which is pretty cool. [The idea of sharing a bathroom with a lot of other people just doesn’t sound very pleasant hahaha]. And the rooms there, especially in the Residential Learning College [RLC] actually look really spacious.

Wow so you’re not going to wait for other admission decisions to come out?

Nice choice not applying to the 24-Hour quiet hall! That wouldn’t feel like the typical fun college experience.

I see what you mean by that. “Riverside friends” are probably much different than “long beach friends” haha

Man, I want to live in suite-style dorms! but SDSU doesn’t provide it for freshman ):

I agree about the bathroom’s; cleanliness is the most aspect to my decision on housing.

Is there any upcoming “open house” days or anything at CSULB?

Well, I already got accepted into University of the Pacific [which is a big NO- it’s waaaay too expensive] and CSU San Bernardino, which is also a NO [I just needed it as a back-up school]. I got rejected for architecture at Cal Poly SLO (which was expected) and just got put on the wait list for architecture at Cal Poly Pomona. They only accepted 100 out of 1600 for their archiecture department this year. I’m not surprised I wasn’t one of those 100 lucky students hahaha.

I was going to apply to some UC’s, but the day I was scheduled to take my subject tests [which was the last day to take the SAT’s] I had a severe eye inflammation, and couldn’t even step out into the light, much less go take my subject tests lol. UC’s are too expensive, anyway, and none interest me very much.

Hahaha yeah they’re definitely gonna be much different.
