CSULB Dietetics and Nutrition Program

Hi there,

I currently hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine after transferring there from Orange Coast College (OCC). I currently work full time for an environmental analysis company in a couple of their laboratories. I'm interested in attending CSULB for their Dietetics and Nutrition program but am curious about courses that will transfer over to CSULB. I used assist.org to see which courses from OCC would transfer over to CSULB and several of the courses I have taken will, but some others don't appear to. I have taken 2 full semester of Organic Chemistry at OCC and it doesn't appear that CSULB will transfer those courses over, even though I only need one semester for the Dietetics program. Also, at UCI, I took an upper division Human Physiology course, which CSULB requires for the Dietetics program, but have no way of knowing whether that course will transfer over to CSULB.

Does anyone have experience in the Dietetics and Nutrition program at CSULB that would be able to confirm whether or not I would have to retake courses that I have already taken from an arguably "better" and higher ranked school such as UCI?

bump

You might want to also try asking on the CSU-LB forum (under Colleges & Universities).

I’m currently in the nutrition/dietetics program. I transferred and completed a year of ochem at a CC and they also didn’t really transfer them. You need an ochem class to get into a biochem class. For some reason they asked me to get permission from the biochem instructor to be able to take that class, so i did. I think after you do that your ochem is cleared. You wouldn’t have to retake those ochem classes. You would just have to get permission from the teacher and prove to him/her that you already took ochem and that it wasnt at CSULB.

Oh and as for physio, I don’t think you’d have to take it either. I didnt have physio done and I’m taking it right now…such a pain in the butt.
