I recently applied to both schools as a business/communications major. I toured CSULB last month and absolutely fell in love with everything the school had to offer. However I applied to SDSU almost completely blind. I have seen or heard nothing of SDSU other than photos from Google and opinions of other people. I was really looking for good campus atmosphere, a good communications program, and a city like atmosphere around the campus. What do you think the best school for me would be?
Well, for what you’re looking for, both of these schools check off all those boxes (don’t know a whole lot about the comm. program in csulb though).
Let me start off by saying that I’m obviously biased towards SDSU since I’m currently a senior here. I personally prefer the city of San Diego to Long Beach. I guess that’s something that you’re gonna have to check out on your own. In terms of school atmosphere, I would say SDSU has the more traditional college experience to it. There’s a lot of student pride. For example, I’m on my way to a football game right now, and even though our team isn’t in a power 5 conference, I can expect at least 25-30k alumni there (though tailgating helps bring people lol). And don’t even get me started on our basketball team.
Ultimately it’ll come down to taste, I suppose. If you loved Long Beach then go there. Though I would try to check out SDSU just to check it out.
