CSUN Fall 2018 Transfers

For those of you who were accepted, were there any changes on your solar student center?

hi my portal says that i need to send in my transcripts by july 13th, but my friend applied too and we’re in the same major and have had identical class schedules but her portal says that her fall transcripts are pending evaluation would anyone know why that is?. we’re tier 2 and applied in impacted majors and haven’t heard back yet.

Hey there, has anybody who applied for Music Industry Studies heard back yet? I already heard from the program that I passed my audition, but nothing yet from the school, is that unusual this late?

@calstatetransfer
My portal so says the same thing as your , to send my transcripts in July . I am tier 2 and in a impacted major as well.
Biotech major.

How do you know what tier you are?

Ya what are the tiers?

It shows under holds on the solar student center

Tier two is for non locals

My daughter is tier 1, non-impacted major and still hasn’t received word so she called last week. The person who answered looked at her information and said D needs to send her AP scores. What? Those get entered as credit on the community college transcript. Has anyone else had to send AP scores before being admitted?

@SoCalC S I got admitted in March with an impacted major but I am local. When CSUN first asked to send transcripts, you had to also send your AP scores like you mentioned.

Thanks @urban_delights and congrats!

I hadn’t heard back even though I’m tier one and have a 3.93 GPA. (Although I am applying to an impacted major–Film.) So I emailed admissions and they said they’re waiting to see if I’ll complete 60 credits, because I currently have 50 and am taking 9 credits this semester.
I called (because I have 53!) and they said they count two classes as one for their school (US History with a focus on Chicanos, and Sociology of Chicanos), so I’ll have 59 credits. They then told me to send them my AP scores, even if I took the same classes in college and didn’t apply the scores, and that they’d send me any updates.
This is so frustrating, because there’s no holds besides “Impacted Major” on my portal, and I definitely thought I was a shoo-in. Just some news in case anyone hasn’t heard back and may be in a similar situation.

Also, I got accepted to CSULB’s film production program.
TLDR: I might get declined for a technicality, and they wouldn’t have told me if I hadn’t reached out.

I’m a local applicant and still haven’t heard back. The only hold I have is my impacted major.

Major: Communication Studies
GPA: 3.86
Golden four: completed

I have an AP score for a spanish test that I havent sent because it’s not on my holds. I don’t want to send it until I’m admitted because they are expensive to send. I’ve been hesitating to call and ask because I don’t want to hear that the reason they haven’t notified me yet is because I have not sent the score. Plus, it’s pretty unusual for a school to request scores to be sent prior to making an admission decision–this is why they have self-reporting is it not?

@dwightsbeetfarm love your username.
I recommend calling their transfer department and just inquiring about your application ( (818) 677-3744). If there’s an issue with your units and they need your ap scores for credit then it’s better to know than get rejected for them. Depending on who you get, they might let you submit them unofficially (that might have been a pity thing in my case though…). I definitely think they need to be more organized with the “holds” section, though. Feel free to message me if you have more questions.

I just got off the phone with admissions and the guy I spoke with simply said I have no holds on my application and I’ll receive a decision by May 1st. Sigh.

Update on my situation: I got a call back and they’re differentiating the courses for me and I’ve been accepted! Happened via phone call. I’m so glad the person that originally picked up the phone did so, because they really did their best to fix the situation, consulted with their supervisor, etc.

Has anyone that has gotten admitted as a Fall 18 transfer received their Financial Aid package yet? I feel like I read somewhere that they won’t be sending out the packages until May, but maybe I am wrong. I would like to see the amount I am awarded before I make a decision where to go.

My D paid the expedited fee on Monday for her AP scores to be sent and called CSUN today. They said the scores are in and once the system picks up on that, she’ll be auto-admitted. If you want to go to CSUN, I recommend calling and if they want the scores, send them.

@Kkann2018 I received mine yesterday. I spoke to a financial aid representative during the open house this last Saturday. She said they are trying to get all the awards out by May 1st.

anyone gotten any news? i feel like it wont be this week either and probably just next week… jesus this is taking way too long. they should get rid of our registration fee as an apology for it taking so long lol

Awesome, thanks for the info!!!
