I got accepted into both schools and I'm not sure which has the better business school? I'm majoring in Accounting, and I hear both have good business programs, but I'm not really sure.. I'm already in Silicon Valley so going to SJSU would be easier. Any help or info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I'm still waiting on a reply from UCI (but I'm already thinking I didn't get accepted because some girl that was in my math class last quarter--with the same GPA and major--got her acceptance). So if I were to be accepted into UCI, out of the three, which would be the best for business? If UCI wasn't an option, which would be the best out of SJSU and CSUN?

honestly… uci is not that great and is very much overated. it blew up these past couple of years for no reason: prof: ok, housing:ok, social life: less than ok, overall schooling: average… i say either sjsu or csun have excellent business schools. you’d be doing yourself a favor by choosing either one.

Thanks for your reply, bballplyrref.
I’m guessing UCI blew up because its business program just opened?
Which–SJSU or CSUN–has a better surrounding area (demographics)? Which provides better jobs (accounting) within the area after graduation since going to school in a certain location has a slight impact on where you’ll be placed?

This is all based on the Universities as a whole, not their business programs…

As someone from out-of-state, I can say that UCI definitely has an infinitely better reputation. Unfortunately or fortunately, name recognition is kind of important when applying to grad school or applying for jobs. I’m sure that SJSU and CSUN are both nice schools but UC’s tend to have a stronger name. Also, I’ve never seen CSUN’s campus but I have spent time at UCI and SJSU’s campuses and I much prefer UCI’s. It’s really comfortable, it’s in a very safe area, it’s not too far from the beach (if that’s what you’re into), and living in Orange County has a lot of benefits. I really didn’t care for SJSU at all. UCI, on the other hand, was my #1 choice out of high school. I enrolled but ended up not being able to go due to finances.

Also, I lived in Orange County for a while so if you have any questions about what it’s like living down there, ask away.

Sorry to gravedig, but I have 'til this Saturday to submit my intent to enroll at SJSU–as opposed to July 2 for CSUN.
I visited the business school at CSUN yesterday and I must say, it’s pretty nice and the campus is decent also.
Does anyone know which school has better job opportunities after graduation?
SJSU is in Silicon Valley, but I don’t know much about CSUN.
One thing holding me back from going to CSUN is that I’ve been invited to PwC’s Summer Leadership Program here in San Jose.

SJSU has way better job opportunities post-grad, as well as much better internship possibilities while still an undergrad.
CSUN is not noted as a business powerhouse.
They tend to be more solidly pre-professional and graduate more accountants, CPA’s and actuaries, rather than entrepreneurial or marketing types.

Thanks, hop.
CSUN isn’t noted as a business powerhouse? I’ve heard that it’s one of the best business schools in LA (for a CSU).
I would think that CSUN grads would have less trouble finding jobs because they’re in LA.

i have never heard of csun’s business school as being a powerhouse, even in the local area. If you were to just compare state schools alone, I would assume csu fullerton as having the upperhand.

where did you end up going and why? CSUN and SJSU are 2 of my top schools I plan on applying to as a business major. Also what was your gpa and test scores?
