Davis over SJSU

edit: Dam 600th post

I know SJSU has a pretty good business program. Both of my accounting professors at UCSC have taught at SJSU and always praise the school. This school is probably better for you if you want to go into business.

However, I wouldn’t even consider SJSU in comparison to UCD, and I hope to work for Big4 Accounting. The econ program at Davis is ranked pretty high and the school itself is pretty prestigious.

Both schools have pretty much the same recruitment into business, so I would just go to the campus with the better environment (Davis).

thanks 4 the input…

I think it depends on your interests. If you do not like economics or have most of your classes based on economic theory, then maybe SJSU will be a better choice. However, if you like econ then I would highly suggest UCD (I’d choose UCD anyday).

I’m not going to lie though, SJSU is pretty good with recruiting. I’m not a fan of CSU’s at all, but I know SJSU constantly has career fairs that actively recruit for pretty nice jobs. However, SJSU is hurting pretty bad due to the budget crisis.

My current accounting professor is a lecturer of the upper accounting courses at SJSU, and she has described how bad the budget problems are getting at this school. I really believe the CSUs are hurting way more than the UCs.

@Cali: Are you talking about Mallory??

Oh CSUs are definitely hurting more. I have friends at SFSU and SJSU who have to graduate a semester to one year later because of the class sizes/shortage of available courses. Also SJSU has been on the news lately because of all the staff cuts.

this is really baddd … but i guess the bad times are on the verge of ending soon?

@Midnight

Yeah, Cost Accounting :P

@don2009, aren’t you majoring in economics? Shouldn’t you know this? jk

@Cali: Yeah, I thought so. I had her for 10A and she always talked about her SJSU classes.

haahah yeah man… I’m trying to be optimistic here …go with the flow please :)

@Midnight

How did you like her? I have gotten ALOT of mixed reviews. However, I think she is fine, pretty interesting in fact.

I actually just had this conversation with my friend today. When I had her I wasn’t a big fan. I thought she was a kind person who tried to stir the interests of our class (8am class), but that’s about it.

I now realize that she’s actually really good and I learned a LOT in that course. She actually had a great teaching philosophy and I kind of miss it now that I am taking 10B. I kind of wish she taught 10B because I think Botsford is horrible.
