anyone besides me bringing their mom or dad or both, who's in-state? blah.

in-state bringing my mom and dad. I wasn't originally but it lines up with my dad's business schedule.

oos. Bringing dad. for other oos'ers, are your parents staying on campus or in local hotels?

oos. Bringing mom and staying in local hotel.

why bring your parents? you've got to start doing things on your own someday.

Parents are invited to go to CTOPS. It's not like they are with their children the whole time, and their presence isn't an indication that they can't let go, as an earlier post indicated. There are excellent sessions for parents to attend---they do NOT go along with their kids to things, and in fact may very well never see their child during CTOPS. Believe me, students are very much on their own and are kept busy, while parents have a little more flexibility to attend or not attend their sessions. I highly recommend going just because you'll learn a great deal, but you won't be with your child. Different sessions for different needs!

I know a few people going without their parents so that is why I asked. I told my mom that she could go/should go with me to CTOPS because I wasn't comfortable going alone... I thought it was a parent/child thing. Bleh... As long as I know I'm not alone on this! lol

Eh my parents are just going for the hell of it. My mom and dad went to my bro's orientation at NC State and its all the same stuff, "what your kids need to know about drinking, drugs, adjusting to college life, etc."

When I went to CTOPS a couple years ago, I was one of the only people who didn't bring parents. It was actually kind of awkward for me not to have them there when everyone else was doing things with theirs all day, so if your parents are available, I'd suggest that you bring them along, though you won't be lost without them - I still managed to have a good time.
