CU Boulder vs DePaul

Hi everyone!

I recently got admitted to both schools, UC Boulder and DePaul University and I really don’t know what to do!! Im an international student and im majoring in psychology. CU had always been first on my list but now im stuck between this two and they are so different I can’t decide. I know I should go to CU boulder because its ranked way better than DePaul in psychology therefore I will get a better job in the future plus parties/social life in CU is amazing but some factors scare the shit out of me. Such as the heavy environment with hard drugs and also I don’t want to judge but I’ve talked to several people that will be attending both and I just have a feeling people are nicer in DePaul… idk maybe im a little crazy. Also, Chicago is amazing and I adore the city but I’ve heard the party scene is not big at DePaul. They are completely different college experiences and I can’t decide. I appreciate if you could help me!! which one should I attend???

A little of my personality so you can help me : I love to parties, not a big fan of skiing, snow boarding, hiking etc (bc im the clumsiest human being alive), LOVE nature, a nice campus is important for me, and yeah thats basically it. thanks guys

I live close to CU Boulder (NOT UC, so as not to be confused with other universities). I know plenty of serious students who are not in to “partying”. I can also tell you that there are a lot of opportunities to party most days of the week if you are so inclined. You will find lots of friendly people, and their retention rate is good. I highly recommend attending!

If you like nature, it is absolutely beautiful here (bring your camera). There are plenty of things to do if you aren’t an athlete—the music scene, great food, etc. The snow is different here: light fluffy powder that melts quickly because we get about 300 days of sunshine. We have laws that keep lights to a minimum at night, so you can see the stars!

CU Boulder recently joined the Pac-12 (athletic conference) which along with its academic research is raising its reputation nationally. It’s fun to be at a school that is on the ascent.

The locations are very different—Chicago wins over Denver, but Denver is still wonderful.

Congratulations on having two excellent choices! I don’t think you can go wrong. Perhaps check out each university’s newspapers and see what they are writing about?

Thank you!! This really helped! @CassidyBoulder‌
