'Kay. I'm a high school student who's seriously looking into the whole Columbia/Barnard thing. While information on academics and housing is all pretty clear between the two schools, a deciding factor for me with the schools I'm looking into is marching band. Aaand I can't find any proof so far that Barnard students are allowed membership into the band, although my mother, who graduated from Barnard some 25 years ago, says that they are. Would anyone care to confirm this?

"You must be a member of the faculty, staff, or
student body of Columbia University or one of its affiliates."

Taken off the FAQ on the Columbia University Marching Band website. I'd guess Barnard is an affiliate. You do know it's a scramble band, right?

Sure do.

After an entire 4 years of high school of all-wool colonial uniforms with a neo-nazi band director who doesn't let you do anything other than roll-step and horn-pop, something lax and creative like a scramble band will be just what I'm looking for.

lol. lax seems like a mild description of CUMB.

Yep, you can certainly join.

Alright, thanks.
