CUNY Average Credits Per Semester?

This is a really basic question, but I couldn't find answer in the website.
I go to a school where tuition is a set value (so I don't know answer to this Q), not by credits, and one of my friends from high school is thinking about going to either Hunter or Brooklyn. He's an OOS student, and in the website, it just says $415 per credit.

But how many credits does an average student at CUNY take? If it helps, he plans to major something in the line of Biological Sciences and may take one or two science courses. Thanks for your help!

Hi, what does OOS stduent stands for?

If he is eligible for in-state tuition, then a semester will be around $24xx (tuition + fees). The fees varies from school to school, therefore I would say basic $2300 in-state tuition + $100 - $200 student fees.

Average credits? It really depends. The in-state tuition covers up to 18 credits.
There are full time students and part-time students. Usually PT students take about 1 - 2 courses. Usually 15-18 is what most undergraduate do per semester.

If you are talking about the total credits needed to graduate, science and engineering requires 120 - 140 credits.

Maybe you want to clarify your questions a bit. Average credits, and OOS are ambiguous to me. Sorry.

OOS = Out-of-state

Sorry for ambiguous question, but I think you just answered my question there though! So it seems like 18 was the usual number (with 15-18 being the range). At my undergrad, I don’t think I ever took anything more than 16 credits per semester, so this was good to know.

“Average credit” should’ve been “average number of credits per semester.” My apologies again but thanks! :)

Oh out of state. Thanks! I learned something new! Please don’t feel offend >.<

yes… he’s going to pay by credits…
It really depends… 15-18 per semester shall guarantee graduation in 4 years…
