CUNY- Baruch Questions

Hi I am currently a senior in high school.
I have looked at some stuff for CUNY - baruch college and had few questions.

I plan to major in financing and was wondering if baruch was a great college for that. If so, why and how?

Do Macaulay Honors College students attend classes in different campus?

I live in Florida and since CUNY is a public school, do they prefer New York Residents over others? Would I have a disadvantage?

Despite their SAT score range (CR 480-590 Math 550-660), AVG GPA (3.15) the school is considered highly selective. why is this? and is it really that competitive?

I know this is a lot of questions, but if you could answer one of them it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! :)

1) great school, if you seek employment in NYC they will put you at nearly the same level as stern kids. Lower obviously but they view Baruch as a good business school. I just started going there and it really is a good business school. Even core classes like English, math, and art are all designed to help you out. English focuses on building your communcation skills, math on business applications of calculus, and art to make you have a broader perpective on the subject. They basically say you need all these cores so you aren’t a business geek, but a more social person who can relate to clients and stuff. 1st year you do cores like philosophy and math, second you do business cores like intro, accounting, etc. Third year you enter Zicklin and start you specified business major. I’m going to do it all in 3 years so i get out early and they are a easy school to do that at.

2-Yes

3- I have no idea but there’s a kid fom California or Arizona or something like that in my class lol

4-Im not in Macauly but as for regular Baruch. It has a 1 out of every 9 applicants selection rate so yeah I guess it is selective. Macaulay is very hard to get into, I mean hard. It has alot of perks though, like 80 kids, small classes, free MacBook, free tuition, etc.

Thank you so much for answering my questions!!!

I still wonder though, if it will be easy for me to get in with 3.8 GPA and 1300 SAT
I am really interested in going to this school.

Yes, you will probably get in. However, don’t count on the honors program. It is very, very selective.

I’m currently in the Macaulay Honors College (but at a different campus) and would totally encourage you to apply with a 1300 and 3.8 GPA.

Also…as far as I know you’re not at any disadvantage by being OOS. You’re definitely in Baruch with your stats.

Good luck!
