Hey guys - I'm thinking about going to Baruch for their Zicklin School of Business and major in Business Administration/Management. What do you guys think / know about this school. Any positives or negatives? Thanks alot!

If you already live in NYC and attend school here you know that Baruch has a very decent business program that is well known by a lot of employers in NYC.

The business program is pretty well respected by employers here. As far as admissions go it is pretty straight forward. Get good SATs, gpas, decent courseload, and you're in.

I understand it to a very well respected biz school with AACSB accreditation. Since it is in NY you will have some job/internship connections down the road. Downside is it is a commuter school with no housing (at least that is what I understand).

I attended Baruch during the time of the dinosaurs. Well, at least it was a long time ago.

Baruch was always a very well respected school of business being formerly part of City College. They are most reknown in accounting, but they have good programs in other areas as well.

Baruch must have a huge alumni base because I have run into alumni a great deal. This is a real plus for getting a job.

If you go to the Studentsreview web site, Baruch has a very good academic rating by students. I would give you their web site, but it is against TOS policy on CC. Just do a search for "studentsreview" or put .com after the name.

I will say that although both the academics and job placement is quite good, there is no social scene to speak of. This is a commuter school, plain and simple. However, it is in Manhattan, which is a fabulous place to go to school. We students ate at innumerable restaurants, most of which were fantastic.

Faculty also were among the highest paid in the country at the time. Thus, we had some really top notch folks. I don't know if that is still true.

Tuition is one thing that also is a pleasant surprise. Tuition for NY residents is currently a measly $4,000 per year! Even for out of state, it is very cheap at around $360 per credit.

Thus, since you are getting a great academic program, with great faculty and facilites, in a fabulous city at a measly $4,000 per year, there isn't much to dislike about this school!

More and more Long Island kids are going to Baruch. It does have a very good reputation. You can't beat the price, the internship possibilities in NYC and I suspect the strong alumni network. Metro NY kids can commute so this is not as issue for NYC/Westchester and LI kids. The main downside of Baruch is that their are no residence halls and no campus life. But their academic business programs are quite good.

Ralph Lauren went there! And so did J-LO! They're all millionaires now!

Yeah commuting is an issue but my friends and I plan on getting an apartment somewhere around the Baruch campus. Thanks for all of your help! Any more info?
