Hi, I heard that Hunter has a great art program and was thinking about applying there as a freshman applicant for 2016. I heard, however, that housing is a big problem unless you get in to the Macaulay Honors program. I was thinking of applying to Macaulay but I don’t think it has art? And if I decide to apply to hunter itself and not Macaulay, how will I house/get a dorm there?
Hunter’s dorms are incredibly limited unless you are going into one of their honors programs, in which case they’ll put you in the Brookdale dorms. Hunter has two other dorms, 92nd street and 97th street. Both have no more than 200 places available. Stay home and commute if you live within an hour’s commute of the school to save money in the long run. As for art, Macaulay doesn’t have their own majors. If you attend Macaulay at Hunter, you will have access to all of Hunter’s majors.
