CUNY Queens or CUNY Baruch for an English major?

I intend to apply for the Macaulay Honors College at either Queens College or Baruch College. However, which one has the stronger English program, Baruch or Queens? Now, assuming I don't get into the Macaulay program, which CUNY is better for English: Hunter, Queens, or Baruch? I know most people will say that it doesn't matter because it's a CUNY, but hey, it matters to me. Anyways, thanks!

I believe all three are excellent schools ( I am a Hunter grad from long ago and got my master's at Queen's) Historically, Queen's was/is a very good liberal arts college with a good school of music and education. Baruch is known for it's business programs and Hunter is strong in teacher education, health sciences and Liberal Arts. As to their specific english departments I can't say. City College of the CUNY system was once the crown jewel although I do not have knowledge of it's current standing. My niece is a recent grad of Queen's and my nephew is a freshmen and they speak well of their experiences there.

Okay, so Hunter and Queens have the better liberal arts programs? That's sounds like more my thing. Thanks so much! :D

Anyone with more specific advice, though?

I think Queens has a a history of being a place for a solid english education. Isn't that what Queens is known for...? Three of my English teachers went and they don't regret it...

They are about the same. It should really depend on where you live. If you live in Queens, you would go to Queens College. If you live in other boroughs, you should pick Hunter.

Hope this will pick :)

I've heard Hunter has the best English program - or at least the most English majors. But I think Queens is definitely up there, too. You should be fine with either of them =)

I would suggest that you compare the faculty and course catalogs of all three. If you find few real professors and mostly survey courses, it's a bad sign. You want to see a fairly large faculty and a good selection of higher level courses on comparatively specific topics.
