Curious about the application process

Hi,

I already know about the fact that we have to update our applications in January, but I'm just curious as to when the application process really gets rolling. When do the UCs we applied to contact us about our application? When do we create decision portal accounts on their websites? Can anyone describe some sort of timeline for this process? Thanks!

Mid-December, from what I heard/read.

Well today UCSD sent out an email saying they got my application and that they will send another in January.

I also received an email from UCSD and that I should anticipate another email with more info.

I got it as well. Thanks for reminding me, flowerchild, that Gmail can sometimes be ■■■■■■■■ by putting something like that in “promotions”. I don’t even know how that can be considered a “promotion”.

UC Davis has a checklist for applicants and on there it states that you make your myadmissions account in December. I’m assuming the rest of the UCs are the same.

http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/info/TR_checklist.pdf

THAT HAPPENED TO ME TOO!! I quickly edited that and got rid of “Social” and “Promotions” all together.

But yah…I think it depends on the UC. Since Haas applicants for Cal will be getting a specific email for more supplement materials, or UCLA Film applicants, ect.

I think after we submit our Fall grades…the ball gets rolling.

lol, just received the UCSD confirmation email an hour ago as well. I’ve heard that UCLA(The school I really care about) takes forever to send confirmation emails, though.

And you’re probably right, ocnative. The ball will probably get rolling after January, so to speak.

ocnative, you can “train” Gmail not to put stuff like that into promotions. All you had to do was drag the UCSD email to the primary folder and a little message will come out on top asking you if you want to move future emails from that sender to primary. The social and promotions tabs are pretty neat features to filter out crap but I guess it doesn’t matter if you have a dedicated email for the UC apps.
