I was wondering about the opinions of current BU students. Especially those out of state ones because currently I’m debating whether to attend and I think I have to reply by April 15th about my decision. I’m a new yorker and I love the city. How does it compare to Boston?

Care to share your experiences about leaving home city or town to go to Boston?

I got accepted to School of Management. and I’m Asian, if that matters at all…

I am from SF, went to school in CA and now I go to BU. Huge transition-but I well worth it. I love expanding my boundaries and being in a city unfamilliar to me. Boston is great and SMG is great. Nothing in CA really compares...wait hold on, I retract that....Nothing in CA compares except for the weather and girls.

Where do you actually live in NYC? The BU part of Boston is more like lower Manhattan or the nice parts of Brooklyn than Queens or the Bronx. It's not exactly the Village or SoHo but it's not the deadly dull precincts of the Upper West Side either.

I live on the lower east side. I feel more comfortable to know that BU's area is like that of lower manhattan. (:

Are the girls there not very good looking?? Thats depressing... hahah I know there are always exceptions but of course i'm talking about the majority.

At SMG, how is the asian population there? caucasians, african americans and hispanics too.

How is the weather and is it a party school? Are there a lot to do and is it easy to make friends? Sorry for bombarding with questions (:.

Boston weather is hard to explain because it notoriously doesn't make sense. It's very cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Lots of wind. Very rainy spring. The amount of snow really depends on the year

Asian American from New York too. I got rejected from NYU but after touring the campus, I am so glad I did. I visited BU last Monday and absolutely loved it, although it was raining the day I toured. If you ever toured the campus of NYU you'll be glad that you're going to Boston. I saw a lot of asians at BU but nowhere as much as the California schools. Also, there are kids EVERYWHERE, I barely even saw that many adults. This goes for Boston in general because of the number of schools in the area. It is by far the number one college town.

I went to visit my sister over at BU, and I have to say, Boston seems like an amazing place. I can't speak of the details since I'm currently in a dilemma between BU and UMiami, but as the poster above said, it's like heaven for college kids.

If you don't even know what the weather is like in the city you are considering spending the next 4+ years in by now then you should really be researching. check out the bu website. there is plenty of information on just about everything you could be curious about

weather sucks-but im from california. The school is overwhelmingly female. I find BU girls very attractive, very intelligent and there is an endless amount of them.

I'm a new yorker and I have several questions for people who live in Boston and people who visited Boston... D:

I took a school day off to check out the Boston Area and mainly Boston U (deciding if I'll like to enroll this fall) and I'm not quite satisfied...

How is the Asian population?

How is the lifestyle ? Here in NYC, it's pretty much renowned for being a party scene. Lots of social-ing ... many things to do. when i got to boston, it was pretty gloomy until i arrived at BU and its surrounding campus. there's not a lot of people.

How is the food? I ate at a chinese restaurant in chinatown and my god, it was horrible.

Are there a lot of young people ?

For those who attend BU, can you describe your life ? Is it books and homework everyday or is it fun sometimes? dorming life, etc.

How is the schedule?

thanks for reading an abruptly made topic XD. dance.gif

What kind of Chinese food are you looking for? Boston has more northern-style restaurants than NYC. While many places in Chinatown suck, there are a bunch of more authentic places - King Fung, Best Little Restaurant, etc. For this kind of thing, I'd look at the Chowhound Boston board. The Super88 food court in West has a very good Taiwanese place and a solid Cantonese place - as well as two Korean places, a dim sum place (ok), a very good Indian place, a terrific Vietnamese place and a so-so Thai place. (We could use a good place for really soupy soup dumplings.)

Are there a lot of young people? There are more young people in Boston per capita than any other place in America. Like 200,000 students. Add to that people in their 20's, etc.

The Asian question was addressed in a thread a few days ago.

are the majority of the students study-holics? or are they laid back and have a good sense of humor? I know everyones different, but in your honest opinion, are BU students outgoing? do they study a lot?

It's a mix. From my experience with my friends, BU students are outgoing and fun. But BU is a tough school. You need to work to do really well, and people know that . Freshman year will be really fun no matter what becasue people are adjusting and making new friends. Most people develop a balance by sophomore year of fun and studying. We're definitely not study-holics but we do work hard
