Current Cornellian Here- Ask Me Any Question!!

They do have a fencing club. I don't know about a Model UN, but I'm pretty sure they have one too.

yea its intro econ. and does cornell rank its students? if so is it done by each school or altogether?

I believe only the Engineering School does formal rankings of its students. However, for certain awards (such as induction into Phi Beta Kappa), Cornell will determine what percentile your GPA is in (top 5%, top 10%, whatever).

I know there's a Model UN team and a womens fencing team cuz I have friends in both.

How are Cornell's buildings? I only saw a small fraction of the campus when I toured, and I was turned off by the gloomy, stale, gothic buildings & architecture. Are there more modern buildings on campus? Think Statler Hall. Or is everything pretty much old and...gothic?

I don't know what part of campus you were at, cause what I saw which was all of it (west, north etc.) It was beautiful. I think that Fordham University, Seton Hall, and Cornell have the three best campuses I've ever seen. The overall appearance is beautiful.

Also the food at Cornell { :-) } is most delectable!!!

err, I have a question about courseload for CALS Communication department...

I'm terribly afraid of Cornell's rep as being the most hw, no sleep, super amount of stress, etc, etc.

but I'm assuming that's only for the pre med and hard science students...

anyone know about the courseload for CALS communication... I got a good feeling that I'll probably get accepted as a transfer this year, but I'm hesistant since I do want to apply to grad school, GPA is VITAL... as is my sanity.

A lot of athletes in communications. That could only mean good things for you.

Sorry I was away for a while. Keep the new questions coming and I'll answer them.

The nanotechnology building on engineering quad is modern. Also, some dorms are modern. There are other examples.

i like old stuff. whats with all this modern talk? gothic > glass.

Ya unless the modern architecture is ground breaking, gothic is usually great for college settings and such.

Is DC++ a file-sharing program (illegal)?

if lets say someone is majoring in bio science in A/S and someone else majoring in BS or HBHS in HE. and intro bio/chem/physics are all required. can the person from HE take it at A/S? so basically can intro sciences consist of people from different schools in one classroom?

lol can someone answer the above question thanks

It's fine. Many classes (esp. the larger ones) will have people from different colleges. You won't find many classes with such strict enrollment restrictions.

how much more expensive is a single, as opposed to a double? Thanks

A lot of weight has been given to the essay for ILR applicants. What does the essay usually ask? Also what's on the Cornell supplement? Thanks

Well, I don't necessarily mean super modern buildings made entirely out of glass. Just...not old. :P The building we went into on our tour that housed class rooms was really, really dated.

Also, I second the question about cost of singles opposed to cost of doubles. How much more?

pretty sure singles are like 7500, doubles/quads are like 6600, trips are like 6100

is an info sci/aem double major popular? is the workload extremely tough?
