Current grades

For applicants whose schools have semesters, the BSs request that the current grades be submitted as soon as they come out (ie, semester ends after BS deadline, but submit ASAP after that). I am sure that this is to ensure that the students continue to perform well. Do you think these are scrutinized - ie, if there are a few Bs rather than As, would it be viewed negatively at this point in the review process? Or is it just a quick check for poor grades?

Depends on how selective the school is, but in general I would say that they are looking for any change from ‘the norm’ for your student. Blips up can help, blips down can hurt.

BTW, I understand that the accepted school will ask for grades through year end as they become available, and that an offer can be rescinded if grades really drop. I haven’t been through that, so maybe other parents who have can confirm this.

Choate did not request further grades beyond what we submitted in the final application.

Thanks, ChoatieMom. Maybe this is just for colleges, then.
