Current MT Freshmen here to help anyone and everyone!

Hey everyone! I'm currently a Freshman MT at Point Park University. I also auditioned at Chicago Unifieds. So if anyone has any questions specifically to do with PPU, unifieds, or even auditions/schools in general feel free to contact me. I am here to help!

To everyone auditioning: I'm sure most of you have heard of the "top 3" schools for MT in the country. Yes! Those schools are amazing, the most selective and have a lot of successful alumni. But there are a lot of other schools out there that are just as amazing. Keep an open mind. Apply to a range of different schools. There is honestly no 'best' MT school/program out there. It's what you make of the training you get. It's a very subjective thing! For example, the program at one of the "top 3" schools may be the best fit for one person, but not at all for another who is just as talented! Always remember, the 'best' program is definitely the one which provides the best training for you and brings out your full potential. So don't ever be discouraged! :)

Break legs and bring out the best in you! They love to see that in auditions :)

Thanks for offering your input about PPU-- I was just reading about the BA and BFA programs there-- It says: “Students who wish to be consid*ered for a B.F.A. must apply and audition/interview for the faculty during February of their sophomore year.” So, what program do you apply for as a freshman?

How is campus life? It looks like it’s in the middle of the city/downtown area (?).

Yeah, a lot of people tend to have questions about that!
Basically, you enter as a BA once you’re accepted. When applying, you just have to choose BA Theatre Studies. During your sophomore year, if you want, you can audition for the BFA and turn into a BFA. But if not, you can also choose to stay as a BA. The thing is, you can audition more than once so if you don’t get it the first time, you’re likely to get it the second/third time.

The campus is lovely. It is in the downtown area, so it’s super convenient. There are also shuttle services everyday to the Pittsburgh Playhouse (associated with The REP, Point Park’s professional theatre company). During the weekends, they have shuttle services to the waterfront (a place where you can eat/shop). There are also loads of public buses around.

Feel free to message me for any other questions you may have about the program, auditions, or anything in general!

I’m a new member so can’t message you but what schools other than ppu did you audition for? Could you please talk through the audition process (especially the dance portion and the kinds of steps to expect)? Thank you so much and congratulations :)
