so whats the br situation, is it coed? and also whats the deal w/drinking water? im living in hill and we dont even have a sink in the room (i wanted to bring a water filter w/me cuz i dont drink tap). do ppl buy/rent a water cooler? thxx

bathrooms in hill are separated by gender

and there’s a sink in your suite lounge; may be handy to buy a brita / pur water pitcher to put in your fridge

do you know how much those go for? do any upperclassmen sell them 4 cheap? and thx 4 the rlly quick response =]

amazon / google is your friend

[Amazon.com: Brita 42629 Slim Pitcher: Home Improvement](http://www.amazon.com/Brita-42629-Slim-Pitcher/dp/B0000AP7NV)

buy replacement filters at cvs

and why not just buy one yourself? keep it as long as it lives - and that way you’ll know it’ll be relatively sterile when you first get it

You don’t want to use an old brita. I’ve had friends filter everything from vodka to urine in those things.

good to know, venkat.

oh no!! do u have to get a brita b/c the cafeterias have tap water???n

no, you would get a brita because you don’t want to drink the tap water in your room / from the nearest sink…

you can’t haul a brita into the dining halls =p

Yes, but it’s probably not economical to buy brita because you have buy all the replacement filters and that can be time-consuming and costly.

replacement filters come in packs of 3 so they aren’t too bad

and it’s cheaper than buying bottled water…

You change the filters like once every 3 months…so that’s 2, maybe 3 times during the school year…and it takes maybe 20 minutes to do (15 of which are just soaking the new filter in water)

Has anyone ever taken Eng101, Jane Austen? If so, how was it?

Thanks!!!

Do you know anyone at the M&T Program, and were there any ‘make or break’ things that got you into Penn (research, summer programs, etc.)?

Out of all the Ivies, how does Penn stack up in ‘lifestyle’ (i.e. Food, Facilities, Proximity of Classes, Size of Campus, etc.)

Lastly, if you are part of SEAS, can you take classes at Wharton (do you need to transfer or anything?) If you don’t get into M&T, can you still combine classes at SEAS and Wharton?

Thank you so much!

If you get into SEAS but not M&T you can always work your butt off, get a 3.8 gpa your first year and apply for a dual degree with Wharton. it’ll take longer than M&T alone but that’s still Wharton and SEAS for you.

Question: I just realized that the Penncard needed to be done relatively soon after we got (long story)…anyway, is this a major problem? If I get it done by let’s say, July 21, will I be completely messed up in terms of getting it and being able to get in my dorm and everything?

Wait when is the deadline? I haven’t done it either.

If you don’t get a Penn Card picture in by the deadline I believe that you just have your picture taken in Houston Hall on the day you move in and they give you your Penn Card then. It takes more time than them having your Penn Card premade, but it’s not the biggest deal.

do parents hang around to help with move in on Sep 3rd ?
all the orientation programs for parents are between 11 am and 6 pm that day & the move in time is 8 am to 5 pm…

they help move in, but then they usually all leave right after that

parents aren’t there for convocation, right?
