How long does it take to get from David Rittenhouse to Huntsman? I have back-to-back math then MGMT twice a week, and it looks kind of far on the map.

Anyone know how different the 8th and 9th editions of Microeconomics by Parkin are? I can get the 8th for $40 or less pretty easily but haven’t been able to find the 9th for less than $120.

drl to huntsman may be a bit of a hike depending on how fast you walk and how close to :50 or :20 your professor lets out…

so…as long as I walk pretty fast I should be ok…? Or will I probably need to haul ass?

eh you might need to jog a little bit

time yourself walking from one side to the other (and details like whether your drl class is on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and if your huntsman class is 3rd floor, etc. matter here)

hmm maybe I should use a bike.

How safe/unsafe would having an 1100 dollar bike outside be? Obviously I’d lock it up, but people could still technically steal parts/cut the lock. I have the bike anyway (for road cycling), I just have never used it for getting to class (at boarding school).

bikes get stolen. i would say that stolen stuff, ie. bikes, is pretty much it 4 crime @ penn. u really don’t need a bike at penn though. it takes like 10 minutes to walk around the whole campus

nah it’s not worth risking that nice of a bike

just learn to powerwalk when necessary =p

Hello all,

I finished the Penn AM several weeks ago, but I’m unsure as to how I can go about verifying that I’ve been registered as “complete?” in the Penn AM system.

I sent this same inquiry via the general e-mail address for Penn AM (alcohol@upenn.edu), but it bounced back.

Psolo2

I just refreshed the page and it said that I was “complete”.

ha, don’t even worry about it. A lot of my friends never even bothered doing the little alcohol education thing.

As a Penn student, I would just like to point out that having an $1100 bike outside is one of the worst ideas I can imagine.

It’s not like all bikes get stolen immediately, but stuff does happen, and especially to expensive ones whose parts would sell for more.

What questions do they ask at this interview?

@atlanticocean: My friend had one of those interviews and she says that she was asked about the activities she did during high school and what she planned to do in college. Questions sort of along those lines.

HOw do the dorms work? Do you get to pick where/with whom to stay?

Is the financial aid application process lenient? For example, if you forget to send one of the millions of papers or forgot the deadline, does it mean you would be stuck paying $50000 a year or could you negotiate?

Don’t know about the financial aid but…

There are 11 college houses (dorms), and you’ll live in one of them your Freshman year. You’ll fill out a housing application with your top choices. You can either just apply for a certain type of room in a specific dorm, or you can apply to a “residential program,” which brings people who are interested in the same sort of thing together and it usually holds events for them. Freshman usually go for the quad, and then hill. The quad is very popular and it’s not exactly easy to get in. If you find someone (or already know someone) that you want to live with, then you can let housing services know on your application. You’ll both have to apply with the exact same list of houses/residential programs. Oh yeah, and you have to write an essay for the residential programs.

Nice. Thanks for the answer.

How hard is it to get an A at Penn compared to other schools (MIT, UChicago, Princeton)? I know that some schools may have lower average GPA overall but the students who go Penn might be “brighter” and are able to get a higher grade?

This is a premed question, and thanks so much in advance, some of these numbers might be hard to come by, so post what you can, but I think these are the most telling numbers for a prospective premed…what % get A’s in Orgo, Intro chem , calc 1 , cell bio ? I heard that a 3.3 gpa from Penn with B’s in orgo get into state schools ( approximately) would this be true? I know this is true for JHU. Also @ JHU, 3.5-3.6s with Bs in orgo get into NYU ( of course, this is hearsay)… how does this compare to Penn?
