As an aspiring philosophy major (and an aspiring Brown student :)), I just want to solicit your opinion on how your philosophy studies have gone so far at Brown.

I know there are many people who talk about math, chemistry, biology, engineering, etc. I think it’s time we heard from the philosophy buffs :).

What’s the course load like? Are there any teachers to steer clear of? How many papers are written? (I love writing essays).

Any information is greatly appreciated

Hey, I'm an aspiring philosophy major as well. There aren't many of us around (that are in high school). What areas of philosophy are you interested in?

I love me some nihilism. I'm not very in-depth right now, seeing as I have other **** to do in school, but I've been reading up on some Nietzsche.

The philosophy department at Brown is very underrated, especially the political philosophy, which I am majoring in. Brown has begun to bolster its professors recently and I am hoping that philosophy will get some help.

All the professors that I have had have been great and really approachable...I just spent a few hours on Friday with one of them, and many seem genuinely interested in teaching...although there are always going to be those few that are kind of *******s, but they are not even close to the majority.

If you get in, make sure to take a class with Brettschneider or Estlund

Thanks a lot for the advice, bob.

Anyone else?

talk about underrepresented, eh?

bump.
