Current School made FAFSA correction that removed other schools to transfer to

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if I'm screwed.
So I had a special circumstance situation that required my school to make corrections to my FAFSA regarding dependancy status... well it appears that they for some reason removed the three schools I put on my FAFSA for this year (2012-2013). I had plans of transferring to a university from this communnity college in January 2013.

But now, I just realized since I didnt make this correction myself, that they had removed these schools!

Am I screwed? I can't find any information on deadlines. Is there a deadline that you have to add a school onto your fafsa at a certain time in order to get award in time? It already processed sucessfully months ago.

Also, I can't make these corrections myself because it messes up the override that my school had to do. I will have to make them do it, since the screwed it up (hoping they can or I'm screwedx2)

So am I really going to be out of school for a year, till next FAFSA year, if I didn';t meet some deadline? ( last term at current school starts in less than a month till dec)

p.s. sorry for typos, i am furious right now and it's too late to call anyone

When you originally filed the FAFSA with the other schools listed, those other schools got the FAFSA info. The change that was made by one particular school, I believe, will not be seen by the other schools. They will see your original fafsa, and then make any changes those new schools feel is necessary for themselves. (At least that is my understanding of how schools can make changes.)

That is correct. The other schools still have the original FAFSA; they just don’t have the updated FAFSA. That is because the dependency override you were granted is only for that school. If you transfer, you will have to request an override at the new school (they are not required to grant it just because the other school did).

Oh…! Thanks so much for clearing that up. I hadn’t even thought of that. I’m so relieved.
So if I added school in a correction before all this override stuff, they still got the original and everything is ok?

Thanks again.

Or you can call your universites and give them your SSN & the DNR on the latest FAFSA, the universities can access the latest ISIR too.

The other schools cannot use the latest FAFSA, because it contains a dependency override. Schools need to review the information and make their own dependency override. If they try to use another school’s transaction on a DI, it will bomb out. I know, because one slipped through on me once, and the Pell payment record was returned as invalid. The other schools have to use the student-generated FAFSA transaction & make any necessary changes on that transaction.
