My brother is currently studying at GA Tech. he is doing his MS in EE. He is a TA and has got a research opportunity.
Does this give me some edge?
He isn't an alumni rather current student. Does me being his brother get some advantage?
Its my dream university and i have applied for EA.

No, unfortunately not. GT, like many schools, realized that giving legacy preferences hurt their diversity efforts.

I know that they’ve switched up a lot of stuff admissions-wise recently, but I have a friend who applied in 2011 with average grades and SAT scores. She was deferred and then denied if I remember correctly, but they offered her a conditional transfer acceptance within the next year contingent on the grades she received her first semester at a different school and she said it had something to do with her connection with her sister. However, she may have misunderstood the situation or they may have changed this since then.

actually i am an Indian therefore adding me would actually increase the diversity there :-)

Actually, amberla, I think you’re correct. My oldest son is a junior at GT, and our middle son applied last year. Very good SATs,& GPA, …ranked #2…He applied EA, got deferred, then waitlisted, then received a ‘conditional transfer acceptance’ for his sophomore year…due to his connection to GT… He also has to have taken certain classes, and maintained a certain GPA during his freshman year. He’s now at The Ohio State University, so he’s not sure what his decision will be come application time. (he’s having too much fun at the football games! )

alright…now i am getting scared. I dont even have high test scores - 2100/1440 SAT, SAT physics - 800, chem - 730 and i got like 3 volunteer work certificates and team basketball certificate. what hope do i have?

bbump…bump…bumpp
