GA Tech admissions tips (Preferably from admitted people, or people who have applied)

Hey! I'm planning on applying to Ga Tech my senior year, can anyone tell me about their admission preparations? (IE: What is your GPA, SATs, etc?)
Thanks!

If you look on the class of 2018 EA and RD threads you will get a good idea of the stats of admitted students. Also after EA round, GT posted something saying the avg gpa was 4.0 and avg SAT was almost 2200. This year was more competitive because of the common app. I don’t know what year you are, but you should make sure to take maximum rigor and get good grades in those classes.

If going into engineering or sciences at tech, practice-practice-practice to get that 800 math SAT. If you really work on it, take it a few times, and don’t get at least 750 on math, you might want to reconsider whether tech is the right fit for you.

My D is loving GA tech had a great freshman year and made less than a 750 on the math portion on the SAT

750 is an absurdly high cutoff point for even considering whether you can make it at GT. I’d say that like a 650 is a much better cutoff point for whether you have both a good chance of getting in and then succeeding.

Honestly, I think it helps if you are female. (look at the common data set) My D got 670 on Math SAT, 730 CR, 720 W and was admitted EA. She had great GPA and rigor. She is not going to major in engineering, but they don’t take that into consideration in the admissions process.

Honestly, it helps ALOT if you are female. I got 800 on Maths IIC, 800 on Physics and 790 on SAT 1 Maths, good gpa, average extra curriculars (considering I am Indian) and still I am first deferred then waitlisted.
