Currently I'm a sophomore. I applied to transfer to Georgia Tech in Fall 2013.
My admission counsellor told me my recalculated overall GPA is 3.8, Math/science is 4.0
I have satisfied all the course requirements and have enough transferable credits. The major I applied is Electrical Engineering. I'm an international student, but I started my freshman year in US college.
How do you guys think about my chance to be accepted?
Thanks!

I’d say your chances look great in terms of getting accepted. Your GPA falls in the higher range of the cumulative and Math/Science GPA for last year’s transfers according to a brochure I snagged from Tech. Btw, I’m a EE major as well! xD

I think you will get in.

Thanks @jm1992, it is great to hear from someone in EE at Georgia Tech. Well, I know my math/science GPA is ok, but I’m still worried about my cumulative GPA 3.8. Cos when I look through others’ discussions, I saw someone has 3.78/3.9 still hasn’t gotten accepted. It makes me wondering how hard is it in 2013! So you say you saw the brochure , do you remember what was the average for EE? And what do you mean by higher range of GPA? People in this range are very likely to be accepted? Also, I’m an international student, I’ve heard international students have less chances and the acceptance rate is much lower. Sigh… Yeah, EE is a great major, I love it! How is the EE program at Gatech from your experience? It must be wonderful! . Hopefully I can get accepted and meet you there. Maybe we can do some great projects together.

@dirtysocks45 Thank you. I know you also want to go to GT. Hopefully we all can meet there. Good luck to you!

@Bryan I’m not at GT yet, I applied through a special transfer program at my college and was recently accepted so I’ll be attending in the Fall. I believe the reason why those people that you mentioned haven’t received a decision yet is most likely because Tech has received a large pool of engineering applicants which makes the decision process not only more competitive but also more time-consuming for the admissions staff. The brochure that I mentioned only had the average GPA for all entering transfers but you could contact their ECE department to find out the average EE transfer GPA. The range of the average GPA for transfers for 2012 is 3.31-3.83 for CPGA and 3.2-3.89 Math/Science GPA. Your CPGA falls within the higher end of the average CGPA and your Math/Science GPA exceeds the average Math/Science of transfer students which means the odds are in your favor of getting in. It is true that Tech expects more out of their international students grade-wise but with your grades it shouldn’t too much of a worry for you. Have you taken any EE or EE-related courses yet?

@jm1992 Yes I have taken some EE courses, two about digital analog signal processing, circuit analysis, such as different types of filters, Fourier transform, Z transform, Laplace transform, etc. Also one course about introduction to microcontroller. Basically tells how to implement microcontroller by assembly and C codes. I have taken an ordinary/partial differential equation designed for EE major. How about you? Do you think this can also help for my application?
Btw, I have 8 APs: Calculus BC 5, Physics mechanism 5, physics electromagnetism 4, chemistry 4, statistics 4, econ macro 5, econ micro 4, biology4. Not very good, but I took these exams at one time with about 2 months to prepare. I don’t know if admission committee will still look at APs.
Also, I’m in honor program in my current university. I retook all the calculus courses in honor program, though I transferred all my calculus from AP. Hopefully, admission staff will notice that my courses are very hard and deep.
What field in EE you want to go towards? Communication, semiconductor, electronics, power, control, electromagnetism, etc? haha

I took an intro to computer engineering course, intro to digital signal processing, a lab focusing on digital design, and circuit analysis. My ODE course incorporated some signal processing concepts near the end (Laplace transforms, convolution integrals, impulse/step functions etc.) Signal processing and ODE are my two favorite courses so far. I want to take a PDE course when I get to Tech but I hear the course in general is pretty tough but it will help reinforce concepts in my future EE courses. I’m thinking of specializing in signal processing just because the concepts and applications are freaking awesome but I’m not entirely sure right now. I talked to my advisor who’s also my engineering professor and he basically told me that I wont get a good feel for what I want to specialize in until I start taking upper-level courses. What are thinking about specializing in?

And I’m pretty sure Tech won’t base your decision on AP scores but they will still process them if you sent them your scores. If you’re applying as a transfer student, Tech’s mainly gonna look at GPA and nothing else.

@jm1992 I just get done with my final. Finally my summer! But I’ll still do May session class with 3 credits. Sucks. How about you? And do you know if tech gonna see my latest transcript and put decision on that? I hope not, because if they so want me to send the new grades, I’ll probably have to wait until June 15th.

Lol I just took my first final today (Circuit analysis) and my last one will be on next Monday. I have to take a summer course as well, but thankfully it’s only until June so that will give me time to hibernate until the Fall. xD

I’m not sure whether they will look at your latest transcript or not. If they do, they’ll probably request a final transcript including the May session class that you’ll be taking.
