If my "S" gets less than a C- in one of his major classes - is it possible for him to re-take the same course at his local university at home over the summer. Assuming he "passes" the same equivalent course - would this transfer to GW and count for the major equirement. He's a freshman.

It's not clear from the university bulletin how this is handled. I know a C- is the lowest he can get in a major course requirement.

Thanks for any advice.

yes, i got a C- in a required calculus class freshman year. took it at community college that summer got an A and transferred the credit in. this is also a cost effective way of transferring some other credits if you’re home for the summer and have some spare time.

i should add that at the time anything below a C didn’t count so i had to retake it regardless.

My S, graduate December 2009, always took a class at the local university during the summer, he did an online class. That combined with his AP credit allowed him to graduate a semester early. Be sure your S talks to his advisor and determines AHEAD of time that everything will transfer appropriately and “count” where he needs it to count.
