I just finished taking a course during Winter Intersession and I am almost certain that I got a 'C' (for stupid reasons on my behalf).

Well this class is Precalculus and I am a Math major. The good thing is that it is actually not a major prerequisite! If I maintain a GPA above a 3.5, will I be able to get into UCLA and UC Berkeley as a math or applied math major? Say if I get A's in the whole Calculus series will that 'C' not matter then?

It's not that I didn't understand the concepts but rather that I got sort of lazy and I didn't get enough sleep the night before I took one test and I got a really terrible score. In fact I'm almost certain I'll get A's in all my Calculus courses because I understand a lot of Calculus I and II, have got a lecture video set on a couple of cd's with great lectures that perfectly describe the content and well I'm just sure I'll do well.

How many credits do you have now and when you're planning on transferring? I mean, if it's like 1 C in a sea of A's, I can't really see it affecting your transcript that much...

I mean, try and raise it, a C just looks bad. I think even a B/B- might be fine, but not too sure about C.

Well, how many credits do you have? If you have a lot of credits like, 30+ or so, and you've had pretty good grades (A/A-), they could just look at a C as something like a hiccup on your record and not mind it too much. But if you have like 12-15 credits, they could see something along the lines of, oh, you can't handle college work.

oh wait, my bad lol, i just read that you will apply next year. All you can do now, is take single variable calc which is 4 units, get an A, and it will raise your gpa up.

along the same lines lets say you get a C in a Statistics class and you are a journalism major, and mmy other grades are fine. Will that have a big effect?

Well, I think it may have some effect. Is it your highest quantitative class that you've taken? If it is, it may affect you though I'm not sure.
