pls share with me what do you think about these 2 schools and which one to go ,thx!

I'm not a current student BUT have an opinion from facts:
I live very near AU and have for years. My D has been accepted at Miami OH and is serioulsy considering going there.
From my perspective:
AU pluses: great city, nice safe suburban location, easy to travel to, a school that has improved itself dramatically over the last 20 years. Negatives: less school spirit, something of an also-ran out of schools in area to Georgetown and GW - maybe even to U of MD.
Miami pluses: lovely campus, exceptionally normal and happy kids, lots of school spirit, major sports opportunities plus varsity teams to watch, attractive dorms.
Negatives: tough to get to, small town in middle of dairy country, too large for some people, colder weather, Ohio-centric student population.
If you ask me, the VERY clear choice of the two is Miami. But that's partly from the perspective of a local Washingtonian who thinks kids should go away to school.
OH, and look at price. I believe that Miami is $10,000 per year cheaper even for an out of stater.

My D. is a freshman at Miami, OH. I am not familiar at all with AU. Everybody that my D. knows at Miami is very happy with their college choice. She indicated numerous times that she absolutely loves it there (it was #2 on her college list last year). However, she is the one who appreciates Miami NOT being in a city, so she likes that it is in tiny Oxford in a middle of dairy country and despite of being large, has a feel of a small college. Another huge advantage that might not be very known unless you actually decided to attend is a lot of academic scholarships that Miami gives to even OOS. Social life is great, hockey team is #1 in a nation and awesome to watch with synchro skating team (#2 in a WORLD) performing before the game. Very good (and cheap) club sports. Strong academics, she actually did not expect some classes being as challenging as they are. Honors are treated like royalty.

One thing that has been brought up in other such threads and that I think is very important when considering Miami is how normal the student body is. Miami does get knocked for a lack of economic, racial and political "diversity" but for many of us who chose to take part in the Miami Magic the idea of being surrounded by fellow students who are happy, well adjusted and in love with their university and country is a huge plus.

^^ I agree completely with Redskinds4ever ... Miami has a great student body

thank you for all replies. I have made up my mind to attend MIAMI
