I'm considering taking a math course over the summer at my local community college. I already checked the articulation agreement through OASIS and submitted a pre-approval request online, which already appeared in my Transfer report. But do we still have to get approval from our advisor or department or what? Or am I all set through the OASIS system?

I think you're all set, but I'm not completely sure. Safest bet is to email your academic/department advisor and double check. Probably the only thing the department advisor needs to ensure is that the subject credit you're getting from the class is applicable to degree requirements (i.e., you're not transferring a course in that doesn't help you)

They're all really busy right now helping continuing students register but you should get a response clarifying everything in a few days.

Well, I've got my advisement appt next week, so I'll ask then. Thanks jbusc.

Lucky you, my appointment is 4/17, which is the same day I can start to register. Those category II classes better not be closed by then!

Even if they are closed, you should get whatever holds you need lifted for that class (d-clearance, pre-reqs lifed in the computer, etc) because spaces do open up, and you want to be ready to grab one on the web registration if it does.

You shouldn't need anything for most GE classes but best to check with your advisor.

btw what math are you planning to take?

I'm taking 226 next semester. I'm not taking any BME classes, so I don't need any d-clearance, just the advisement hold.

Reason why I say this is registering for ARLT-100g classes was a hassle last because they opened up only 3 spots a day for each class at random times.

don't worry beammeup, cat II's are mostly large classes and I'm sure some seats will be blocked out for awhile until Freshman orientations come up. It would be cat V that I would be worried about, if I was taking that, as those classes are all around 30 students.

jbusc, I'm planning to take Math 226. (as long as I pass 126...better go study for my midterm ;))

if you're engineering, for 226 consider taking penner. his classes are open only to engineering students and I really liked it. check senatecourseguide.com and ask some other students that have had him.

Plus for all of the math 226 sessions they provide a lot of support - 2 hours of TA discussion/week, several hours of SI/week, extra SI and TA sections near midterms, and for engineers, free tutoring. It's a lot of incentive to take on-campus.

as for ARLT 100g I feel your pain, I was essentially shut out from all the interesting ones for 4 semesters. Now I have to do ARLT 101g (which I hear is pretty good with Gustafson anyway)

I do know that if you hunt around, find the right person in the GE office, and beg, they might let you in on when they open seats up in arlt 100, if you're that dedicated.

Gee, Penner seems like a good prof. They haven't put out the names of the profs teaching next semester, but if Penner is teaching 226, then I may reconsider and do 225 instead during the summer.

his classes have been 11am-12pm and 1pm-2pm MWF for a couple of semesters now so probably those will be it. you'll need to go by rth110 and ask the guy for the d-clearance form if you want to take it.

edit: and he's been doing 226 for those semesters too so prob next fall is penner for 226 also.

yeah I'm taking ARLT-100g with Farenga this semester. He's a good prof, but gets angry if no one speaks up (I don't blame him).

Forgot about engineering D-clearance...I did want to take a D 226 section. Looking on the schedule, as always, it doesn't list the profs for 226. I'm ready for a good prof. Mancera for 125 and Mikulevicius for 126 hasn't cut it yet.

beammeup, are you in Mikulevicius this semester? So am I! Gotta agree though that his accent is a bit confusing.

yeah, i'm in the MWF 1PM section. He was better than my 125 prof, but it's still been hard. I'm going to die after Friday's midterm!
