"this is a little extreme, but is it possible to double major and double minor? i've met people from usc who've triple minored, or double majored n minored, etc. is it smart to be in an honors program when a student wants to do this?

and.. we dont have to have a meal plan right? i like cooking =) i still have so many questions!"

LOL... I love cooking too...but you'll find that (for frosh at least) you won't have very much time for it during the week :) Plus good luck doing much cooking in dorms besides microwaved stuff.

And as for double major plus double minor plus honors? Well that sounds a little excessive, and unless you have lots of AP credit plus stay summers you'll probably be here for 5 years. And if you're here for 5 years consider going to grad school for a master's degree instead of double minoring.

Valaen, I'll be living on the Rainbow Floor next year; I'm an ally. I've found the LGBT community on campus to be open, welcoming, and down to earth in general. I've met a great variety of people through events. I helped out at "Gay? Fine by Me." t-shirt distribution this semester, that's a huge success pretty much every semester. What I figure with the Rainbow Floor is that being an ally is part of my identity, the community sounds unique and close-knit, and if things don't work out you can get reassigned, but I'm hoping that won't happen.

Just came across this site after I started looking for info on USC's dorms. I just got admitted (Screenwriting) yesterday, which I'm now seeing is a little late.

I think I found enough on the dorms themselves (unless anybody wants to suggest somethin)... but my question is about the A/C in some dorms. I'm from Chi-Town, and the weather here is nuts, so that's my concern. Does A/C even matter with the weather in LA?

Cuz IF I'm gonna do any sleeping, I definitely wanna be comfortable.

Average SUMMER temps in LA are in the mid to high 70s. There may be a few days in the fall when you wished you had it (santa Ana weather,) but that only last a few days. Califonia doesn't have humidity like Chicago. You will be fine!

I grew up in LA, and then moved to Chicago after college. You do need A/C to sleep at night at USC in my opinion, but then you will have it in the dorms at USC.

How diverse is USC? Many schools claim to be diverse by having solely a deverse population but the the atmosphere isn't diverese when it comes to different different actually interacting with eachother in a tangible way. I wouldn't like to be somewhere where different groups of people keep to thier own kind so to speak.

just so no one yells at me, this will have no impact on my decision to enroll or not, but are there currently any celebrities going to usc? i'm curious.

I find USC to be pretty diverse, but you have to be willing to put yourself in situations that might not be the most natural for you at first. I'll give an example, but don't take this as a norm, this is an individual experience, I was hanging out with a friend from India and she asked if I wanted to meet some of her other friends, I'm always up for making friends so I went along. I ended up being the only person there who didn't speak Hindi, although these people were from all over the place. They were warm and welcoming though, and the conversation was good. I have friends from around the country and around the globe, interaction happens if you want it to.

There definitely is some visable separation between ethnic groups on campus, but if you want diversity it can definitely happen. My best suggestion is to interact with the people you get along best with in terms of personality, regardless of skin color. This way diversity will happen for itself rather than feeling forced.

That response really was helpful. I just wanted to know how things were because I'm from the Bahamas and wondered if people are as open there as here.

Do you have specific questions, because I'm not sure if I explained the way things are for most people. I can only speak from my own experience which has been really positive.
