Right now I'm a second year at UC Irvine. I'm not particularly happy with my decision to leave my hometown so I was looking for insight on two possible routes:

Withdrawing from the University and enrolling into a CCC? or

Transferring directly to a CSU like SDSU?

Once this Fall quarter is done I will have 86 completed units plus any additional units I may take Winter and Spring assuming I don't withdraw after Fall. In all honesty, what are my chances of transferring into SDSU successfully?

I lost all hope with transferring to UCSD so either SDSU or a San Diego CCC are my options.

Additional notes:
I was admitted into SDSU as a freshman after high school.
I want admitted into UCSD as a freshman after high school.
Electrical Engineering Major
Completed: Single variable calculus, multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, c programming, intro to digital logics, physics-mechanics, physics-electromagnetism, physics-waves and optics, ad chemistry.

Just withdraw after Fall Quarter and enroll in CCC this Spring. Staying at UCI might not do you any good in the long run since nobody knows how your credits will transfer to the CSU system…if any will at all. Save the money and guarantee transferability. You could still apply to UCSD because they only care about grades up till fall…doesn’t hurt to give it a shot. You could also apply to SDSU but you should still withdraw to save money.

Your odds will depend on your GPA and meeting all the requirements SDSU expects of xfer students. Units probably aren’t going to be a problem; SDSU says on its xfer page
I’m pretty sure UCI is regionally accredited

With 86 units after 4 quarters at a UC, I’m guessing you came in with a lot of AP credit. Not sure how that will affect you, but something you might want to look into. You should talk with a counselor at either UCSD or Irvine about your odds for a UC to UC xfer.

Why would you want to go to a CCC instead of finishing out the year at UCI? Just curious. I don’t think you’re going to be eligible for TAG at SDSU or UCSD, although CCC do get some preference in xfer admission.

According to the SDSU website at [San Diego State University | Admissions](Contact Us | SDSU) they have office hours. It isn’t clear whether they welcome prospective students to come in and talk, but you could call them and ask.

You don’t say what your intended major would be at SDSU, so I’m going to guess it is EE. Another thing you could do, and that I’ve known people to do in the past, is to contact the undergrad advisor for EE or the undergraduate dean in the Engineering dept. In-person is always best; see if you can set up an appt to discuss your prospects for admission (bring a printout your transcripts) and get their advice on which road to take.
