Current Undergrad Student at UA

Hello all.

I am transferring to UF from The University of Alabama over the summer time. I have already applied but not yet heard back. I am curious to what life at UF is like. I am from FL and did not like being so far away from home in Ttown, also did not like everything revolved around greek life although I am in a sorority myself. It is still hard to focus in a town revolved around greeks.

Also, I am majoring in Biology on the Premed track.

UF is good in sciences correct?

Also how is greek life on campus?

Do freshman have to live in a dorm the first year because I will be considered a freshman and not a transfer - If so, is there any ways around it? (Not living in a dorm again)

Thanks!!

UF is really STEM oriented, so yes.

Greek life is pretty dominant on campus.

No one is forced to live in a dorm.

Source: I’m a freshman at UF.

As a Freshman, living on campus, Greek life can seem pretty dominant. However, by the time you’re a junior (and if you’re not active in a Frat/Sort), it really fades away to zero. By then you’ll have developed your circle of friends and will likely be living off campus. Only 1 in 5 students are members (while at UA, 1 in 3 women are in a Sorority).
