Cut system

I just watched a video on line an actress who had studied at Juilliard spoke about the cut system that was in place when she went… Which programs still have a cut system?

What I have sorted out:
Apparently she said Juilliard doesn’t anymore.
BU doesn’t
NYU doesn’t

Who does?

Here is a thread on the topic from 2 audition seasons ago:

It is also important to ask about juries and what happens if your student is not progressing. I have D at SUNY Purchase and, from what she reports, the juries are intense and students can be put on “probation” and would need to show progress in the areas of deficiency to continue. I don’t think that is unusual.

Thanks that was a very helpful discussion. It seems to be a gateway to understand the culture of an institution. I liked this comment from the thread.
“Considering the emotional and monetary effort that is put into applying, visiting and auditioning for a program…some students may be hesitant to go into a program where the retention rate is very low. And it’s not just the money, though that can be significant, but the psychological toll.”

Do any schools still have a cut system? Most of the ones I’m familiar with (D1 just graduated from a BFA MT program & has lots of friends at different schools) have juries, but if a student is put on probation, they usually KNOW they will be put on probation (don’t attend class/don’t turn in assignments, etc), and the professors are very willing to help them so that they get off of probation & back in good standing. If there are Acting programs with cut systems, I’d love to know, for D2!
