Cvw Questions

Hello one and all,
I'm hoping one of the many helpful posters on this board could solve this puzzle: My son received a CVW letter on Monday listing 7 different dates he could attend. A classmate of his also received a CVW letter on Monday listing only one date in October that he could attend. Does anyone know what this means? Or if it means anything? Thanks in advance for help with this puzzle!

Does your son's classmate have any special qualifications (athlete, etc.) that would conceivably restrict the number of available dates for him?

I don't think you should read too much into this, one way or the other.

"Junior's" letter listed the following seven dates for the Candidate Visitation Weekend:

26-28 OCT 2006

16-18 NOV 2006

25-27 JAN 2007

08-10 FEB 2007

22-24 MAR 2007

12-14 APR 2007

19-21 APR 2007

Ditto Zaphod. Be pleased that you son received an invitation, select a date, and make a reservation with your Regional Director. :)

I recieved the same letter (twice actually) listing the seven dates...perhaps it was a printing error in the case of the classmate?

I received a letter for CVW; however, it only listed one date:

October 26-28, 2006

It's probably because your son is awesome. Haha, hopefully I'll get to meet him.

VM

I got a letter, through email, from my regional director this week and i will be there Oct 26-28. I think the reason may be because of the Outreach Conference Banquet but who knows, im just glad i got an invitation.

joe

What is that?

ok i just copied this straight from the letter.

"Admissions Outreach Conference Banquet: This is the culminating event for the conference. Each candidate is invited to attend, and is encouraged to bring one guest. As space permits, a candidate may bring one additional guest at the cost of $60. All checks should be made out to the “Candidate Guidance Contingency Fund,” and mailed to: Office of Admissions/Leahy Hall, USNA,. Banquet attire: Business attire (coat and tie). Candidates should RSVP for the banquet no later than October 12, 2006 with Mr. Donald Montgomery, Diversity Outreach Coordinator, "

It has something to do with minorities.

who went? wasnt it amazing?

i went

i got lucky cause i got to stay with a plebe i know. this made the experience much different i think and different in a positive way. I have a different view of the academy after the weekend. nothing groundbreaking but just some things that i did not know about and some things i assumed went on but don't.

I will be going to the next weekend starting 16 Nov. what kind of things happen? Is it actually a special program, or do you get to just follow someone around and see what goes on?

Also, would I need a swimsuit, workout clothes, etc.

I will be attending the same one ZMAN, maybe I'll see you there.

I would guess they are going to send us a follow-up letter with the details of the program, am I right?

That's what I was told over the phone. Evidently, neither of us have recieved it yet.

First off, you (ZMAN and Kavanaugh) need to call the number on the initial letter and reserve a spot. they'll basically say thanks you'll get more in the mail. they send you a letter that doesn't really tell you anything else except where to go when you get there.

I don't want to spoil the surprise but you watch 400 movies about the academy then you get an admissions brief then you get matched with your plebe. In my case they assigned you a company based on last name.

You meet your plebe, say bye to mom and dad then you head off to Bancroft. During the day you go to class with your plebe, maybe get to take some tests with them (I did and I must admit I didn't do so hot) and you get to basically just experience the atmosphere of the academy. You'll get to work out with them then chill with them on a Friday night.

...at least thats how it went for me

Im going the same time and havent gotten anything either

i went this past weekend and it was pretty much what dritchey said, you watch like a few stupid movies about the academy (not quite 400) but close, then they talk forever about admissions, then you get paired with ur plebe, then you go to bancroft and take a shower and chill, personally i thought the academy was much more laid back than i thought it would be, we did blue and gold that night and then we went to bed and then on friday we went to eat breakfeast at the chesapeake room which was nice then we walked around cuz my plebe didnt have a class, then we went to a stupid panel thing which was about admissions, then i think i went to english and then to lunch and then to chem and then we went to the chapel and set up for the halloween show, that night i went to a fancy dinner thing which was like 3 hours long but i got to meet some admirals which was cool. went back to bancroft and chilled till i basically passed out, got up the next morning and had to go down with my plebe because he had to go early to the notre dame game and then i called my mom and we left, OVERALL it was amazing and i loved it, dont pass up the opprotunity to go if at all possible you should make the trip because it is very good.

Yeah I missed the banquet. From what I heard I didn't miss much though. I guess each drag's experience is different because I did some of the things joe882003 talked about but i did other things that he didn't mention.

Like:

Getting a look at what the upper class life is like
(my plebe has a brother who is a firstie so we stayed with him for a while)

Went to a typical dinner (not like the fancy breakfast and lunch they give you) and got a taste of the real food..for better or worse.

Anyone going in January?

^^^^^
