I just got a CVW letter today for dates in January, February, March and 2 in April. Anyone who got one plan on going? I'm going to the January one.

For those who went to CVW this fall, what is the itinerary we can expect?

I am going to the January one as well! They will send an itinerary later in the mail.

Date yet to be determined, depends on state wrestling tournaments and other stuff. I like that there are various dates.
just waiting on the Nominations.
That is the tough part.

I'm attending the Feb CVW.

heck yeah...i got my invitation too! i don't know when i'm going yet, but i will definitely be spending a weekend with the Brigade!

OK, we did not get one of these....how do we wrangle one?

well once i received my scholastically qualified letter, my BGO told me that i would be on the list for getting an invitation to one of these weekends...i've heard from other people on this forum that one can ask about (and essentially request) an invitation through their Regional Director...I don't know if that works or not-just what i've heard other people have done

Your agenda will pretty much be set by the agenda of the mid you're assigned to! For me, that meant sitting around for a while during study hour on Thursday and then watching a movie (since she got media so I wouldn't be bored), going to classes all Friday, and doing SMT. SMT was my favorite part--we ran a few miles, did some PT, and then got to go on a little cruise on a YP.

Talk to your BGO and ask to get a slot at CVW. That's what I did.

We did ask the BGO...and the coach...so maybe the mail is slower here and it will come soon. Son has LOA and nom...arg!

Are you paired up with a plebe? And what is SMT?

yes, you become a plebe's "drag." you live with them, eat with them, go to class with them, etc.
SMT is saturday morning training. it varies from company to company.
at my CVW we ran over to the naval station, did the e-course, o-course, ruck pt, log pt, bear pit. it was loads of fun.

just listening to these descriptions of CVW is gettin me pumped up about USNA!!! i'm going crazy waiting for the word from USNA admissions...

I did the CVW in October and it was a great experience to get see how everything operates. The midshipman I was paired with didn't have SMT(I think it had something to do with the rain ruining some course) instead his company had to watch A Few Good Men and have a discussion about it.

ah, a few good men. i love that movie. what weekend were you there, azhockey?

Can anyone state unequivocally whether USNA can offer a CVW if an official NCAA Recruiting Visit has been taken?

I've heard opinions on both sides. The majority seem to indicate that it would be a NCAA violation.

Thanks!

Make sure you talk to the person who works with the service academies.

Son got CVW in today's mail...was nervous when they arrived in Washington before Georgia...but it all worked out! Now, settling on a date...

I got one yesterday, think I'm gonna go to the January one.

Son will have to talk to the coach; it looks like the team is at big meets for the Feb. and March CVW dates...and son has county meet on the Jan. date. Certainly don't want to wait til April...so I guess we talk to the coach after the holidays.
