So I have a "lovely" D in Calc Ap and am freaking out over it. I am working my bottoms off to bring it up to a C, but in case that doesn't happen, will UCSC take my admission back? Is there any way for me to save myself?
HELP PLZ!!!!!!!

From what I heard, UCSC is pretty lenient over these situation.
Just explain to them what is happening, and you should be fine. I suggest you to contact them asap!
Good luck!

okay! thank you very much.

Welcome and gl! Hope to see you at UCSC!

lol.. same here, i hope to god i will be able to go to ucsc.

don't worry. I'm pretty sure they won't care that much!

keep us updated :)

kk.. i will call them/email them after i find out how i do on my test tomorrow. I cant really tell this to my parents because they will think that I am making up an excuse to not work harder in calculus. Thats a slight problem. Also I was wondering, exactly what do i tell them. Like do i say: "hi my name is bla bla and I wanted to know what I should do if I have a D in Calculus AP. I have tried to bring my grade up, but because of my work load and extracurriculars, it is not possible. I am still trying to bring my grade up, but will I be rescinded if i have a D by the end of this semester?"

i have absolutely no clue what to tell them..

that happened to me in high school...and here i am, don't stress.

did you call them beforehand? or did you not contact them and they ignored the d?

I got a D in first semester, so I sent a letter informing them of it, and then I received an e-mail asking for my first semester grades and my current courses. So I replied, but haven't heard anything about it since. I think I'll call tomorrow and ask.

Actually, I think when I got the 'D' I hadn't yet been accepted. It was fall quarter. I sent a letter saying I tried but the math was just too theoretical and as an art student it was beyond my scope. I gave it a shot, and tried my best, but it just didn't work out. I included my updated spring schedule w/o calc.

well, i will contact them after i find out how i did on my test today. I studied so freakin hard and that test was hard as hell. I am so scared.

kewkiekid,
what was the total # of senior year courses you had for second semester in high school? did you have any other APs before?

as far as i can remember...(A/B denotes semesters)

AP lit (A/B)
AP HumGeo (A/B)
Honors Physics (A/B)
AP Calc (A)
TA (B)
Marching Band (A)
Web design (B)
Journalism (B)
Play Production (A/B)
Stage Crew (A/B)

Wouldn't it be wiser for you to wait until you are sure that there is a D on your report card, before actually telling them the bad news? I have the same situation with my Math class, but think it might be more beneficial to wait it out just in case I get a C....What do you guys think?

yeah i talked to my teacher and i am working really really really hard. And she basically said that she is happy i am working hard and she knows i am working hard, and that it will " pay off in the end" and she smiled. Which is a huge relief for me. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Talk to your teachers, they dont want to flunk you ( unless they are really bad teachers) if you show them you want to learn and want to go to college, then they will be nice.

If you guys think a D is bad...

In my AP calculus class, our teacher is making us take "his" AP exam. If we fail it after three attempts (get lower than a 3), we fail the course. And I already failed the first time.

wow.. that really sucks. My chem teacher made us take his sat2 chem test for a final.. i suck at sats and taking an sat in chem didnt really help out. lol

omg...i'm in the same situation as you except i have a D in AP Stat. It's not even a high D too! Its a 61%!!!!! I'm calling them tomorrow.

phew. thank god i didn't take math this year and i only have ap gov.

good luck to you guys. i'm sure ucsc still wants you :)
