D in IB Math Studies SL, Mid-year Report

I have a D in IB Math Studies while the rest of my grades are 3 As and 2 Bs and one teacher’s aide class. The colleges I’ve applied to does not require mid-year reports, well did not really mentioned or asked me for one, but I know my counselors will still send them. I’m just so worried because I think I just ruined my chances on everything. This is also my fifth year taking a math class (which probably doesn’t even matter), however, does that mean I can’t get accepted with a D?

DO you already have acceptances and you are worried this will revoke them? Or have you not heard from colleges yet? I think much depends on the schools where you are applying. Is there a reason (health issue or something) that caused this drop in grade that you might want to explain? You might ask your guidance counselor for assistance. If they are familiar with the schools where you have applied, they might have good advice on how to proceed.

@shoboemom‌ No, I applied to regular decisions to all of the colleges so I won’t hear from them until April. I applied to VCU and GMU. No, nothing really happened. The class was a bit complicated for me and I’m not trying to blame my teacher, but there is such a big language barrier between our teacher and my classmates. I wish I could have dropped out earlier but it’s too late now. My counselor will be submitting the mid year reports next week, should I go talk to him today or this week?

Did everyone else in the class do poorly as well? If it’s a situation where the language barrier conspired to make everyone in the class get low grades, then I think it would be appropriate to talk to the GC and see if they are willing to make a note to that effect on the mid-year report. If you’re the only one who did poorly, though, I don’t know what you can do or say about it. but it wouldn’t hurt to speak to your GC either way. What do you have to lose?
