<p>My oos freshman d is a business major and in a rap. She likes to go out on the weekends and have a good time however she is experience a huge pot scene and is not happy. Any suggestions would be very helpful. She loves the school & doing well.. but not fitting in and making friends. Please help. Thanks. </p>

<p>She is in Southwest & does like to drink on the weekends. Nothing during the week.
She was a varsity athlete all 4 years of HS & did play soccer intramurals this past fall but I think she needs something more intense.</p>
<p>From my visit and discussions with current students, I’ve heard that Southwest is the main hub for partying. If there is too much partying there even during the week, then maybe she should go to some of the quieter parts of campus (basically anywhere besides SW).</p>
What is she doing to meet people and make friends?</p>
<p>It doesn’t always happen by magic for some kids. Some kids move into the dorms and have a ton of friends by osmosis seemingly, but other kids have to be more proactive and make a deliberate effort.</p>
<p>She’s been there long enough to figure out which kids aren’t into pot, she should focus on those. Or get involved in clubs or other activities.</p>
<p>My S doesn’t drink or smoke, he found a good group to hang with without too much effort. He was in Northeast though.</p>
