Am mom of DAAP/ID fourth year student. Am happy to answer any ???'s for those new to , or considering, this program. (Also looked at Syracuse, RIT, SCAD, Carnegie Mellon , Pratt). Leave question here or PM me.

Any recommendations for not being admitted to DAAP/ID (so sad)? Was admitted to College of Arts & Science with the thought of transferring into DAAP. Does anyone know if and how this would work. Would it be a wasted year? Appreciate any feedback, especially if you experienced same situation.

I donât know if I would call it a âwastedâ year; however, if your student is admitted after Freshman year to DAAP/ID they would be looking at a 6 year plan. Our DS was a DAAP architecture majorâŠtransferred to ID during his first year. He was required to start over the next fall with the incoming Freshman ID students which makes things a 6 yr plan for him. He was looking at 6 ys if he stayed in arch anyway (4+2). He was able to knock out almost all of his electives though while waiting to start over in IDâŠvery helpful to him since the studio classes are so time consuming and difficult.

Also, keep in mind that even though the overall time will be 6ys, there are 5 semesters of co-op. So the total cost is not as bad as it sounds.

All that being said, I wouldnât allow your student to let the 6 yr thing throw them off. The bigger question seems to be the chances of being admitted to ID for year 2 and if itâs worth the risk to take that chance? Iâd try to schedule a meeting with the folks at DAAP to try to get a clear understanding how probable/improbable it will be to try to gain admittance in year 2? Good luck!

The admissions website states that âApplicants should be informed of an admissions decision prior by February 1, 2014.â My sonâs application to DAAP still states that they have received all the required materials, but does not state a decision.

Does anyone know if the decisions are being delayed?

Thanks.

collegeparents, thank you for responding. We will be contacting DAAP to learn what the options are.

I just got admitted to UC but wait listed for ID in DAAP. Does anyone know the chances of getting into the program after being wait listed? Also, how long it might take to get a definitive answer? Thanks yâall.

my daughter will be filling out her housing application in the next few days. we are trying to decide if she should apply to live on a DAAP floor in Daniels hall or not. she is going to be in the industrial design DAAP co-op program in the fall 2014. I told her I thought it would be beneficial since she is not the most outgoing of people and it would give her a chance to meet people and make friends with people majoring in the same program and have a buddy to walk back and forth from late nights at the DAAP building. could use some advice. and is anyone else from the Washington DC area?

Daapmom, my daughter is from Chicago, and will be an Interior Design major this fall. Sheâs too cool to be outgoing, but is a great kid. Sheâd be happy to have your daughter as a roommate. What sheâs been able to find out is that Daniels and the DAAP floors are the place to be during freshman year. Her strategy is to go for a quad, to improve her chances to meet a great roommate ⊠Or three. Sheâs shadowed at DAAP in two classes with both current freshman and sophomores who all recommend Daniels. Hope to see you in the fall!

thanks balthezarâŠshe will apply for a quad on DAAP floor of Daniels.
