DADT Repeal

So.

I'm a Grad, I'm deployed, and I'm doing DADT training on the repeal. Basically boils down to "treat people like you want to be treated" with a bit more on the respect fronts thrown in. Very standard respect type stuff, that really, is no surprise to anyone who has been watching the news.

I'll admit, I geeked over this subject, read the results of the survey when they were published, read the recommendations, added my own opinions to the write in box, everything.

Have the recent events changed anyone's mind about applying?

Who knows? I am also Active Duty. Treat everyone with respect and follow the golden rule…do unto others as they would do unto you. The key will be enforcing standards and not to have double standards. For example, just like I don’t want to see or hear about heterosexual exploits in the workplace the same would go for homosexual exploits. If one’s personal behavior outside of the workplace creeps and hinders discipline and conduct within the workplace, appropriate action should be taken through the chain of command regardless of orientation and irregardless of personal beliefs no matter how immoral the act. It is a shame that popular politics of the moment becomes policy- DADT was fine the way it was- we had no major problems with it…should not even been a political issue…who cares if someone is x, y, or z. Just do your duty and serve honorably. But that is the way it is and as such we must uphold the current new policy. Yes, Sir …yes Sir…I salute the flag, obey the orders of those appointed over me, and defend the Constitution and drive on.
