Freshmen:

Congratulations on your acceptance to USC.

I bet you've already begun thinking of which organizations from the hundreds on campus you'll join. Why not start joining now?

The Daily Trojan is probably a perfect match for many of you. The newspaper offers opportunities to photographers, writers, artists, designers and copy editors. Writers have several sections to choose from: opinion, lifestyle, sports and news. Students from every major are accepted, so don't worry if you're not a journalism, fine arts or English major. Staff members' majors extend across all areas of study at USC.

The newspaper is edited and managed by USC students. It receives no financial support from the university administration and student funds; instead, the paper is independently financed by revenue from advertisements.

Production has stopped, but it will resume on the first day of classes.

Fall applications are available at dailytrojan.com/apply

I applied to the Daily Trojan before I had even graduated from high school. Ever since my first semester at USC, I have been a part of the newspaper. It has contributed to many of my college memories, fun times and friendships.
